What's different about this exhibition of Indigenous art is that
it's all abstract. Co curator Janelle Porter says, it's something
we have not seen in recent or past exhibitions of
Indigenous art.

The difference is in focusing on Indigenous artists using abstraction.
That this is that that is a lens through which
Indigenous artists are often not viewed. They are often categorized
and confined only by their heritage. We want people to
see this exhibition, look at art, and talk about art.

The exhibitions called an Indigenous Present. It's the work of
fifteen contemporary artists over the past hundred years. It's making
its debut at the ICA, and from here it goes
