Boston's St. Anthony's Feast Wraps Up With Final Day

The last day of Saint Anthony's Feast is upon us
in the North End. The energy is electric in the
streets are packed for the grand procession.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Today is an amazing day. It's if you've ever been
to like Disney World. I mean, that's kind of the failing.
I always get.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Thousands of devotees parade through the streets of the North
End carrying a full size statue on a platform covered
in dollar bills and gold jewelry. The festival dates back
over one hundred years as a wait for the immigrant
Italian community here to honor their patron saint. The statue
is carried around the entire North End for ten straight hours.

A long day, but it's a great day to walk,
adding to the frenzy.

This year, the festivities just so happened to file out
on moveout Day, August thirty.

Sant Anthony's Fast has to fall on the last Sunday
in August, so every eight years or seven eight years,
it falls on Labor Day weekend. We work together. It's
happening either way. People are gonna move in and we're
still going up for Sant Anthony's Feast.
