It's deeply unusual to see in the world of agriculture.

We aren't family members, and that's very rare, you know.
So I think a lot of farms they feel like
they have to keep it in their family, you know.
I think that creates the struggles.

Jenny Durocher is the new co owner of Signer Hill
Farm in Amesbury, which is often laudered is one of
the best places to pick apples anywhere. There's a history here,
it's just not genetic. Chris, her husband, has deep roots
on the farm, dating back to when.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
He was seven, and he grew up with the Cook family,
so he grew up with the owners and their sons
and in a lot of ways, you know, he's Karen
Cook calls him her third son.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
He still makes the signer here. In addition to being
a paramedic.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Jenny says, with land prices growing so high, the important
thing is keeping this farmland in production so that everyone
can see where their food grows.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
My mom taught me very young from how to grow food,
and I think it's something that this generation needs. As
things get more developed, everyone is craving just a little
bit of space.
