It's an eyesore at any intersection that links Roxbury to
the South End. Now, with the promise of state funding,
developers are pitching a plan to turn the historic, vacant
Alexandra Hotel into a new hotel with retail and restaurants.
At a recent Boston Planning and Development Agency meeting, community
activist Jonathan Alds called the project a huge step forward

for both Roxbury and the South End.

city that has, for the ten years that I've lived
in the South End, been an absolute disaster given the
spillover for massing casts. This project is a generational opportunity.
