Massachusetts is generally thought of as a place with bitter
winters and tolerable summers, but more and more.

Summer has become almost as dire in Massachusetts because the
heat can really be unsafe for seniors in particular and
families with children.

Sharon Scott Chandler is a President of Action for Boston
Community Development, where organization hosted ever Source reps in Dorchester,
telling people ways to keep their homes cool this summer,
especially in light of this winter's wild heating bills.

When the hot summer sun is shining right into your house,
it warms up the rooms, and if you keep the
blinds closed during those periods of the day, it can
actually make a difference in how cool your home feels.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
The company will pay for up to one hundred percent
of some projects to keep homes cool.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Our program exists to help people who can't afford to
do what some other folks can afford to do.
