Former Boston Poet Laureate Honored At Posthumous Book Launch

The event here was both a posthumous book launch and
a tribute to Boston's second poet Laureate, Danielle Legros George,
who passed away from cancer earlier this year at the
age of sixty. Among the speakers was David Leonard, President
of the Boston Public Library.

Her poetry inspired many. She also called us to account
for history and what type of society we want to
live in going forward.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Her partner Tom Laughlin says Danielle was not only an
internationally known writer and translator, but a professor at Leslie
University for twenty years.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
She was director of the MFA and Creative Writing Program
before she retired, and she was a mentor to so
many young poets.
