Gloucester DPW Staffs Clearing Up Trash Amid Republic Strike

It's early on a scorcher of a day. When Barbara
adds her trash to a sizable pile of bags of
massing in her Rocky Neck neighborhood.

It just put my doggy's poop in there too.

Apartment's not concerned about all that garbage baking in today's heats,
she says, despite the republic trash strike, it will all
be gone in a couple of hours.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
The city. I don't know how they're managing it, but
they've been doing a good job of picking up.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
It's Gloucester's DPW that's been leaping into the breach caused
by the Republic strike, and that's not lost ungrateful residents.
Kate owns Two Sisters coffee shop on Washington Street.

I see him working overtime, and they didn't sign up
for being trash men. So it's you know the fact
that they're doing one hundred degree days and they're doing
what they need to do to keep the city clean.
