Ninth grader Mariah Williams did the honors by cutting the
ribbon officially opening the new schoolyard here at Henderson Upper
School for K through twelve.

Makes me feel happy to know that work has been
done and that people are still listening. I'm glad things
are moving forward.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
The idea for an all accessible schoolyard with playground and
open space came to her in the second grade. Nine
years later, she's seeing the benefits of her advocacy.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
What students deserve. They deserve the space to play and roam,
as well as good classrooms, just in a more inclusive environment.
I think it's what's needed.
