JJ Foley's Cafe Hosts "Split The G" Competition For Guinness Enthusiasts

Splitting the G has become a huge cultural trend in
bars all across America. And what better place to host
a competition than the home of the best Guinness in America.
JJ Foley's in the South End. They won that accolade
from a famous reviewer. Now they're challenging patrons to see
who can line up their first drink the best, so
it splits right through the G on a Guinness glass.
I asked Mike Foley why he thinks it's such a
popular challenge.

It's, you know, the competition that brings people in, keeps
people going, and that's what makes it so fun.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Joe and Liam are the judges for the competition. I
asked them the secret to getting a perfect split.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
You gotta get three medium SIPs in there, you know,
not heavy SIPs, not light SIPs, three medium SIPs. And
you should be read on that line.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
You find a routine that works for you. Some people
it might be you know, one, two and just get
it down. Some people it might be a steadi poor.
But you just got to find your game and play
play your game.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
And there are some fierce competitors here. I caught up
with Shavanni, who had just split it perfectly.

I've done that here before, so it's something I'm used to.
