Kevin Driscoll Is Sharing The History Of Paul Revere Through Ventriloquism

Kevin Driscoll has always been fascinated by the art of ventriloquism.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
I used to go see Jeff Dunham whenever he came
to town, and when I was a kid. Obviously I'm old.
So in the nineteen fifties, ventriloquism was a key thing
on the Ed Sullivan Show when they would have all
these different ventriloquists on, and I always was enamored with
the whole art of it and how a puppet could
come to life like that.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
And after stepping back from his job in tech, he's
now turned his hobby into a full time gig. And
with the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the American
Revolution going on, he decided to debut a new character,
Paul Revere.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Chances are if Longfellow hadn't written that poem, nobody would
hear about Paul Revere. If you do the research, you
find out that in his obituary the Midnight Ride was
not mentioned. He was not famous during his lifetime.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
He now goes around performing shows with his puppet Jerry,
about the life and legacy of Paul Revere, complete with
original jokes and songs. Triscoll says It's his way of
honoring a man who dedicated his life to founding America.
