Late Boston Globe Critic Richard Dyer Remembered With Vinyl Sale

It's vinyls packed tight in the narrow hallways and nooks
of Richard Dyer's Cambridge apartment.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
He was a serious collector of classical vinyl records, especially
vocal He was.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
The American music critic for the Boston Globe between nineteen
seventy six and two thousand and six and passed last year.
His nephew, Stephen, is in charge of handling his estate.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
You know, he wasn't music critics, so he said mean
things about some people, but he never said an unkind
word to me, or to my wife or my kids
or anything like that. He was a wonderful guy. Everybody
loved them.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
There's about twenty thousand records here. Of course, the sale
isn't going to give home to all of them. The
rest are slated to be digitized so that Richard's memory
can live on.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I had a guy come in from New York who
took a four am bus so that he could come
up here and go through the reel tapes which are
in the back.
