Local Hiking Group Specially Cater To New Parents, Caregivers And Babies

Since nineteen ninety nine. The parents hike and the babies
come along for the ride. The Babes in the Woods
program with Friends of the Fells meets each Tuesday year round.
I was shocked when they told me they only really
cancel if it gets below twenty five degrees.

That's the thing about little kids is that they're your
personal space heaters, and so if you're carrying a baby,
you are actually really warm.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
That's Diana Loo Macon, the Babes in the Woods high coordinator.
The free guided hikes are for parents or caregivers who
carry their little ones and get an education along the way,
learning about animals, plants, birds, and preservation efforts yellow fover.

It could be really isolating to be a new parent sometimes,
and it can also be really difficult to get out
of the house at all.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Amanda Garms is the Visitor service as supervisor for the
Middlesex Fells Reservation with DCR.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
And so the Babes in the Woods is a really
special program among many other guided hikes that the Friends
of the Fells offers to kind of get people out
in Medford.
