Luxor Cafe In Harvard Square Is Staying Until 2 a.m. For Ramadan

Hieroglyphics line the walls with the smell of Bacca ba
coffee in the air at Luxer Cafe. The Harvard Square
restaurant is based on the kind of cafe you'd find
in Egypt with hallal food and a safe space to pray.
And now it's open late.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
A lot of people living here, they kind of long
for that thing that they miss at home, so we're
just trying to be that space for them.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
That's abder Haaman Hassan. He owns the place and is
keeping luser open until two AM during Ramadan.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
If you go to an Arab country or Muslim country,
you'll see that after prayer, that's when the cafes do
open up, and he wants.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
To bring that to Cambridge, and so far he's had
tons of customers to the point where they're starting to
run out of food when it's almost time to close.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
You pray at different mosques, and depending on which musk
you're at, they start at different times, so they'll end differently,
so you have different rushes. So you finish half of it,
you come over and it's like the first wave the
second wave, and for the most part, the same people
stay and it just gets it gets really really.
