'Lynn Calm Team': City Launches Non-Violent Response Pilot Program

The Lynn Call Team is a new crisis response service
in the city whose members are trained in mental and
behavioral health, a team the public can call in nonviolent situations.
What kind of situations, Well, that's what I asked, Faustina Cuevas,
a city official who helped to put the team together.

An example might be someone sleeping in their car. Right,
you're walking by every day you see someone in their car.
You're like, hey, there seems to be something off here.
I see this person, I'm kind of wondering. I want
to get them help. I want someone to talk to them.
And instead of calling the police, who can call this alternative?

She says, The community has been asking for somebody who
can respond without a police uniform or a gun to
nonviolent situations that so often involves someone facing substance abuse
