Mass. Tenants Can Now Petition To Keep Eviction Records Sealed

It's a celebration outside the Eastern Housing Courthouse, sas State
Senator Lydia Edwards holds a framed petition which now opens
the door to a second chance for tenants.

This is part of a nearly decade long journey for Edwards,
whose bill now offers people of the chance to have
their evictions record sealed. Attorney General Andrea Campbell.

An eviction record, even one that has been dismissed or
brought into in retaliation for a tenant exercising their legal rights,
is a barrier to safe and stable housing that can
have a long term and devastating impact on a family
and on an individual.

The new law has the support of several organizations, including
