Massachusetts Will Tax Cable Boxes Under New Directive

As if your cable bill wasn't expensive enough, you'll soon
be paying a sales tax on those cable boxes inside
of your home.

It's just going to be more money out of our pockets.
It's the reality of you want to watch TV.

It's a shame that had to put tax that.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Obviously, people around Quincy Center were not too happy to
hear this. Last week, the state Revenue Director signed a
directive that slaps a six point twenty five sales tax
on all modern cable boxes. So if you want to
keep them, you'll be forking over more moolahu to Uncle Sam.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
To be honest, like, there's nothing I could do about it.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
I mean, it's just ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
And streaming is once an affordable way to cut down
on costs, but to keep up with all your channels
and live sports, even streaming services are flirting with cable
