MBTA Unveils Names Of Two New Ferries

We're here at Boston's Long Wharf for the christening of
the Harbor Gym and the Abigail Adams, two fairies that
come from New York but are new to us.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
They didn't have a need for them and they're perfect
for us.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
It's a win win situation, so we won't hold that
against the NBTA nor David Perry, director of Ferry Operations.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
We were able to find a couple of boats on
the open market late last year, brought them up here,
sent them to shipyard, got them tuned up, and now
have separate route for Winthrop to Boston and Quincy to Boston.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
The fairies were named by two elementary students who won
a ferry naming contest. They and their classmates were here
helping shatter champagne and to celebrate at Boston's Long Wharf.
