Methuen Cares Food Drive To Assist SNAP Recipients Ahead Of Cut-Off

The Methuin Central Fire Station is one of eight locations
around the city collecting food. Already, two large cardboard boxes
contain food like dry mac and cheese, baking, mixed apple, juice,
and other non perishables. Jason lives in Methuin and as
glad the city is stepping up as it looks like
SNAP assistance will be cut off soon.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I did not know that they were doing that. That
actually makes me a lot happier knowing that my Eleasa
community I live in, somebody is stepping up and doing
the job that they're supposed to be doing.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
The donated food will be distributed starting November first to
anyone who can show they were receiving Snap assistants or
veterans benefits. The city says over ten thousand residents depend
on SNAP, nearly twenty percent of its population in Methuin.
