MSPCA Boston Unveils New State-Of-The-Art Pathology Lab

When it comes to saving animals, a faster diagnosis can
make all the difference.

The sooner you can get them on the correct antibiotic,
the better chance they have of surviving.

Doctor Patty Ewing is the director of pathology here at
MSPCA Angel, and she says the new lab is going
to make a big impact right away.

If the organism grows on the augur we can you
know that same day, find out what organism it is
that's causing the infection, and then they have a better
idea of what to treat with.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
President of MSPCA Angel, Neil Lidvack, says the new lab
also helps expand the capabilities of their animal blood bank.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
We'll be able to store blood for our own needs,
but also for the needs of the surrounding veterinary clinics
in the area. There won't be a need to use
organizations or companies that have been set up for the
sole purpose of being able to draw blood from animals.
