Speaker 1 (00:05):
This guy is quite the catch. Lambert is black and white,
has one eye and is hanging out in his retirement
home at the New England Aquarium. And did I mention
he's a thirty three year old penguin.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Plays a natural behavior for a lot of animals, including
these penguins. But when you're in your thirties, I'm not
expecting you to have the same amount of play behaviors
as althea or bunker some of our youngest penguins.

Speaker 1 (00:24):

is crucial to African Penguin's help. For the younger ones,
that means lots of playtime with brightly colored toys. But
for the seven older penguins on Geriatric Island, and Richmond
is more about training them how to navigate their exhibit
in a safe way.

And so for us, that was training him to utilize
these mats almost like a highway, so he has that
tactile information that tells him where to go, Where's safe
for me? Where can I jump?
