New Edition Honored By Mayor Wu With Proclamation and Street Renaming

It was a day to celebrate in the Orchard Gardens
neighborhood of Roxbury, as what was Ambrose Street was re
christened with a new name.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Congratulation.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
It's a new Edition and now I have the honor
of officially declaring today New Edition Day in the city
of Boston.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
It is now New Edition Way in honor of the
R and B group that grew up here and came
together around singer rapper Bobby Brown.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
I'm just gonna say thank you from the bottom of
my heart.

Speaker 5 (00:32):
I really appreciate everybody that's out there.

The group formed in nineteen seventy eight reached the top
of the eighties, but nearly five decades later they still
perform and in the old neighborhood they remade as big
and as popular as ever, with a street named after
