New School Honors Literary Legend From Lawrence

A granite bust of poet Robert Frost sits tall on
a pedestal in a courtyard at the brand new K
through eighth grade Oliver School. Retired Lawrence High School art
teacher David Meehan donated it to the school. The sculptor Penelope.

Jaden bellies Air is an assistant at the Lawrence Public Library,
just a few doors down from the school he grew
up in Lawrence.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Going into middle school, I had to recite poems on
a weekly basis, and a lot of them happened to
be Robert Frost poems.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Frost graduated from Lawrence High in eighteen ninety two, where
he wrote for the school bulletin. He went on to
become one of America's most beloved poets.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
That's a good example for the youth of today. There's
so much expression that you need to let out written
word portraits like.
