here in Newton, celebrating and uplifting indigenous people.

different nations and different parts of the world, not only
the United States.

That's Iowatha Brown, a member of the Arrogancet tribe in
Rhode Island. He says they had to make a last
minute move indoors to Newton North High School, but canceling
wasn't even an option. He says, the Arrogancett tribe sees
rain is a form of spiritual cleansing.

As we come in here and we share our ceremonies,
it kind of makes us understand and appreciate each other
a little bit more.

I found Lyndon Jenkins with the group Massachusetts Catholics for
Indigenous Rights at one booth.

And also just getting to know more people. By showing
up at these things, we build friendships and relationships, which
is really important in Newton.
