Pickles Are Stirring Up A Problem In Manchester, N.H.

I've been canning with my grandmother since i was a
little kid, and I'm going on sixty one years old.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Daniel Mawory cans his own spaghetti, sauce, jellies and gems,
but it's his pickles that have become a real problem
in Manchester, New Hampshire. And he tells me he doesn't
sell his pickles.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
There's a gift of friends and family and some neighbors
and things like that Christmas gifts, you know.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
But after posting a picture on social media of his
last batch of bread and butter pickles, someone reported him.
He says the health department sent him a cease and
desist letter. Well, now he's fuming mad and is fighting
the city to get homestead food items allowed in Manchester.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Your messages, keep on canning and don't let city take over.
We will fight this and we will win, so in
the long run we'll be back to having bake sales
and cookie drys from Manchester.
