Preparations For Salem's 400th Anniversary Well Underway Ahead Of 2026

It's not every year you get to celebrate a quadri centennial.

They say, you only turn four hundred once, so really
make the most of it, and we're planning to do that.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Salem Mayor Dominic Pangalo says the plan to celebrate has
been years in the making.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Twenty seventeen, the city started setting aside a little bit
of money each year to be able to have a
really great celebration in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
That includes events like the Heritage Day Parade, the Salem
Parks Day, and collaborating with the community to.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Plan their own events and to put them on the
calendar at Salem four hundred dot org. Activate Old Town Hall,
which is a charming historic building right in the middle
of our downtown that we're in the middle of a
major renovation too to make it ready for twenty twenty
six as well.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
The city will also kick off a Volunteer Marketplace in
January to connect people with organizations to support in Salem.
