Quincy Officials Allege "Betrayal" Over Fire Gear Said To Contain PFAS

The City of Quinsey purchased thirty sets of fire gear
from Safety Components back in twenty twenty three, under the
marketing that it was made without pfas a forever chemical
link to increased cancer risk, But on a hunch, Mayor
Thomas Coke says they had them independently tested.

And came back highly positive. With PFAST components in the gear.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
The city and the International Association of Firefighters are now
ringing the alarm bell for other departments.

We're still researching how many fire departments have bought this
particular type of gear off of this company. We know
that other companies have made similar commitments that their gear
was p FoST free, all of which has to be tested.
