Residents Celebrate National Park Service's Birthday On Spectacle Island

Most people are working, but plenty are celebrating today's holiday.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
It's Founder's Day, which is the anniversary of the founding
of the National Park Service. So we're running free ferries
out to Spectacle Islands today.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
John Palmer with Harbor Now says there's five miles of
trails on Spectacle Island.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
There's a ring trail that goes around the outside of
the island, and then there's spiral trails that go up
the drum ones on either side, and it's the highest
point in the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park.
You have gorgeous views of the Boston Skyland on one
side and you can see out the rest of the
park on the other.

It's not just Bostonian's taking advantage of the free ferry.

Service, kind of as fur the moment.

Yeah, Auto was on vacation from Missouri and decided to
save some money while sightseeing.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Well, honestly, I just heard there was some good hiking,
some good sight seeing, and you know how today I
thought we do it from Boston.
