Revere Police, Fire And EMS Conduct Emergency Response Exercises For MBTA

Revere police and firefighters along with EMTs, are surrounding a
Blue Line train here in the Orient Heights ard as
they respond to a simulated incident. In this case, a
Blue Line train struck a fake pedestrian played by a
mannequin as it pulled into a station. The train was
full of volunteers that all have various fake injuries, including
some that require them to be stretchered off. MBTA and
Mass DOT Security Director Michael McCabe helped oversee the drill.

It's intended to give real world conditions for the fire department,
in the public safety and police to test their procedures
and their equipment and gain access to a rail system,
which is very unique environment to have to come and
evacuate people.

Crews tested out equipment they got from the MBTA through
a grant program, like a foldable cart that allows them
to move passengers along the tracks, something that came in
handy during recent incidents on the Blue Line. From East
