It's one of the hotter days of the summer, but
volunteers came out to hand out school supplies to families
in need.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Somehow, it feels like a cool breeze is blowing over
my soul today.

Salvation Army Captain Justin Barter is one of the people
spearheading the event.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Today. We're handing out eight hundred and fifty backpacks watch
to the children, the school children here in the community.

There is a sizeable turnout. April broughder twins who are
going into second grade.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
It just helps. I mean, I have three kids going
into school, so I mean it's pretty important it especially
when I get to provide everything for the twins here.

She said, it was all somewhat bitter sweet. On one hand,
it's nice to see neighbors supporting one another, but at
the same time.

I think it's kind of sad that this is what
it's come to, that people need to come here and
depend on this type of stuff.

There will be an even bigger donation event this Wednesday
