Snowplow Operators Hope For More Snowfall This Year After Many Slow Seasons

The scraping of a front end plow, slicing through snow
and hitting the pavement used to sound like a cash register. Nowadays,
in a change in climate, it's basically a struggling side hustle.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
We seem to be landscaping further into December than we
ever have.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Ryan Dunovan operates independently with a small crew in Kingston.
He's adding landscaping into his repertoire to make up for
what used to be steady snowplow cash, not to mention
an economy still dealing with inflation.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
The last couple of years. Obviously, with everything across the board,
costs just keep going up.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
We're in a very cold stretch right now, but the
snow still isn't falling. Ryan tells me they make up
for it where they can.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
We can still put plants in the ground, as long
as we can put shovels in the ground.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Still hoping for a few snowstorms from Mother Nature this winter.
