South Station Starts Service For Amtrak's New NextGen Acela Train

A special announcement greeted passengers of the first Amtrak Next
Gen a sella train out of South Station. Amtrak President
Roger Harris says this new fleet is built with high
tech tilting abilities.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
To allow it to go faster, but also keep it
comfortable for the customer so you don't notice the tilting.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Harris says, it's a big upgrade for the passenger experience too.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Physically, it rides a lot more smoothly.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
And the other thing is when you get inside, I
think you'll really notice that the windows are bigger, there's
more light.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
But these new high speed trains won't be moving at
the speed of light for now.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
A lot of the journey time versus the maximum speed
relies on.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
The infrastructure, so we have many infrastructure projects.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Right now, it's about the same travel time to New
York City, but with more projects on the way, they
hope to adjust speeds within the year. From South Station,
