St. Anthony’s Feast Arrives In North End, Prepares For Opening Festivities

Anthony is the patron saint of our neighborhood.

The one hundred and sixth Saint Anthony's Feast is this
weekend in the North End. Despite his Italian ancestors taking
root in Boston over a century ago, Feast chairman Joe D.
Geralimo says, not a lot has changed.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
There's a town called Multa faul Joni. When they settled
here on Endicott Street, that a not Maude and streets.
Basically they brought the traditions with them. The patron saint
of that town was Saint Anthony. They brought it here
and they've been celebrating since nineteen nineteen.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
There's a ten hour procession of the statue of Saint
Anthony through the streets of the North End on Sunday.
Trustee Jason Eluias says that helps them raise funds for
local charities and the neighborhood.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
When you give to us, we get back, And I
think that's what they're not then knows if they know
we are going to keep a shrine to us Saint
all year long, but also Tony back to the neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
There'll be lots of Italian food and music on the
streets of the North End through Sunday night. From the
