You see them everywhere, a gray, barely transparent cover over
a car's license plate.

What we're trying to do is clarify the law to
outlaw the tinted covers.

But those plate covers can be used to scan the
state out of toll money if they're two dark tolding
cameras can't read the plates whizzing by. State Rep. Bruse
Airs wants to change the law specifically to get rid
of the covers, thereby clawing back millions for the state
every year.

Some estimates show that it could be a loss of
over seven million dollars annually.

A Statecoard of Appeals ruled that plate covers are legal,
but they can't obstruct the view of the plate. This
is kind of a loophole. Air says, there's also safety
reasons for the change.

And also we wanted to be able to assist our
police that might not be able to get a clear
read on a license plate.
