Speaker 1 (00:00):
For the faithful denizens of Twin Donuts in Alston. It's
one last sandwich and a coffee before the lights go out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I've been coming here close to fifty years now.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
It was the last day in business here for Twin
Donuts and Austin Breakfast Landmark and Staple on Cambridge and
North Beacon Street. This place has been here since nineteen
fifty five, known far and wide by the massive pink
neon sign up top. A local family of Cambodian immigrants
took over the spot about twenty five years ago and
have been running it since. There was a line out
the door and tables were packed with regulars. One woman

(00:28):
was wiping away tears.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Oh, incredibly emotional, like this has been such a staple
for our family. We come here every single weekend.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Ownership didn't give out a public reason for the closure,
but it comes as many other businesses in the area
experience a downturn. But the thing people will miss most
heres seems to be that homey feeling and the sense
of community.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
That's nothing alight. Feels like they will get to know
you in the Olson area as much anymore.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
So We'll see what else is out there that feels
like that your neighborhood, feel that you get here.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
