James Beard Award winning chef Jamie bisson that one of
the best chefs in the world making food right here
in his home of Boston, And I got to put
that to the test recently at his restaurant So Mac,
just fantastic Korean food right in downtown Crossing, where he
also has a record bar called Temple Records, a sushi bar. AnyWho,
Jamie Bissonett also does something really great for this community,
which I got to talk to him about.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yes, Spoonfuls is a charity that I've been a part
of since its inception with Ashley Stanley and we are
as were a food rescue charity. We specialize in the
saving food that was going to be thrown away from
like grocery store, produce departments, et cetera, then put onto
a refrigerated truck and read distributed same day to homeless
shelters and places in need who need fresh food, not

(00:41):
canned food, all fresh. So we recover and read distribute
food because people are hungry and there's plenty of food
out there. So yeah, there.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Must be something incredibly rewarding about that.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yeah, you're totally right, man, You're hitting the nail on
the head as a chef. You're taught as a young cook,
never waste anything. Don't throw away the top of a rat,
don't throw So to see people throwing food away because
a bag of onions has one brown onion, or a
bag of apples has one soft apple, rather than opening
it up, which is what happens in a lot of
grocery stores. And being able to get that food eaten

(01:12):
and consumed. It's so important.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
It's great, great, indeed, such a cool thing. And there's
a charity tonight for Spoonfuls in South Boston at the
Lincoln Tavern and restaurant Chef Bissonette jumping into a culinary clash.
Attendees are going to get a chance to vote for
their favorite dish and crown a chef champion for the evening.
