Zoning Changes Approved For Downtown Boston

It can be tough to build around Boston, especially when
history is around every corner and contractors need approval before
they touch anything.

Much of that will be preserved through the zoning changes
that came through this week.

has incentives for projects that make preserving history a priority.

They maintain it. If they ensure that that legacy continues,
then they're able to access additional height and density in
some ways for projects.

Also, affordable housing is a huge sticking point. It would
make up twenty percent of new developments, including market rate
and luxury buildings downtown.

I think that's great. The more you bring in low
income housing, the better of an air you can get
with that sense of community.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
The point of this is to get more housing closer
to one of Boston's largest commercial districts, and new skyscrapers
can reach up to seven hundred feet though they won't
impede on the common in public gardens, no shadow laws.
