But what did you expect. It's a podcast called twenty
five whistle Twyne.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Here we go, presented by a Draft Kings Fantasy sports.
Check out what Draftkinks has to offer? What the code
Bobby Sports? Which, by the way, I got a bunch
of boxes that I have not opened yet. I see
that it's like those egg videos with the kids, the
Wow eggs. Yeah, though with a surprise surprise eggs.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Those are cool.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
So we're gonna open some packages in a minute, our
version of surprise eggs. But it should be sports memorabilia.
And I have like one so much. I don't even
know what is in the boxes. We'll all find out together.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
I don't even know what you guys are talking about
these eggs.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
You don't have kids, and neither do I.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
But I've showed you the videos because I had.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
I definitely don't watch them when I'm alone, going I
wonder what's in that one attractor?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
And we were all on the road once and I
brought home an egg for my kid and like it
freak he freaked out.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
It was so cool to Draft Kings. Check it out
the coaches Bobby sports life more fun when you're in
on the action Draft Kings. The crown is yours. Gambling
problem called one hundred gambler age and eligibility restrictions apply.
Void were prohibited. See DraftKings dot com for details. I
did before we started because we have a bunch of balls.
We're going to sign these basketballs and basketballs that we're
going to give out for our too much access show
(01:24):
for people to comment in the section. So I have
all these basketballs, but this I was going to show
you guys in my big git. It's a Larry Bird
signed basketball. Who sit down, Kevin, Yeah, it's real and
so uh this is my big git so far. It
was my big game that with two hands.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
What are you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Well, I'm holding it with one hands.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
If you drop it and it lands on the autographic
could damage.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
It, that's true. But I'll say he shot with it.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Okay, you can do that.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
So when we open a lot of this sports memorabilia
that I've won, I mean I paid for a shot
to win it, then you win it, and then sometimes
you pay and you don't win crap. So in the end.
Who knows, But this is a Larry Bird signed basketball,
which I think it's pretty freaking cool.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
That is amazing.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
That's my big get. It was, it was, it was
until you it was I'm gonna hold, I'm gonna hold.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
It was, Oh my gosh, you got something big.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Because that's awesome. A Larry Bird signed basketball. Amazing. Yes,
we'll get to that in a second. First, so Lucky,
let's know, I'm not I had to pay money, Lucky,
let's do the tittle tattlet the tittle tattle.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
After opting out of the NCAA football game, do you
think arch Manning not being the starter is the main reason?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
It's a great question. I did see that. You know,
there were i'm gonna make up a number sixty thousand
people that said yes, and ten thousand people that said
now I'm gonna opt out. And if you got in
the game, they gave you like six hundred bucks and
a copy of the game. And I did say, I
did see where Manning said. Arch Manning said, I want
to focus on football and not worry. You don't have
(03:00):
to know, you don't have to play as a character.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
He's sign a paper, You're done.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah, does he think he has to beat the character,
like he has to like live crap John's online, he
push start, I gotta get.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Up, question though, legit question though? Do you have to
like show up and have all those things all over
and act like you're the one throwing the ball?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Okay, they will take a few people, and they'll even
have people mimic what certain people's throw looks like. They'll
have universal like running quarterback, run and shoot quarterback. So
basketball does it too, where they have people impersonate Yannis
with the balls.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Because in two K you can pick like yann Is dunk.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yes, and that's not Yannis going up to do all
the dunk I thought it was. They can also grab
footage though, and mimic it a bit with Ai as well,
like see footage of him.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Yeah, but to your point, Arch isn't gonna do anything.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
He doesn't have to do anything. I get that the
Manning brand is big. I don't even think it's so
much about that. If I'm just guessing, I would say
that it's a bit if you play with Arch over
yours and that becomes a video game thing that people
are screaming about. Arch is actually better than you. It
just complicates and body that because that's already gonna be weird.
(04:11):
He's gonna be a sophomore. You were stayed another year.
Two years, Manning will be a Texas and hasn't started.
So I would think it's a bit about that because
all the Manning dudes they were in the game. Now
that's NFLPA and they didn't have to negotiate separately with Madden.
But they know you don't have to play like Eli
(04:31):
and Payton any Manning that's ever been in a video game. No,
you don't have to actually play the game like yourself
infut pads on and run around while somebody's playing their franchise.
So there's no reason for him to not be able
to focus on football.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
You need to find out if the third string is
he going to be in it, because then what if
you play him over?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
But they won't. I think they may make arch Like
a better quarterback because people would want to use them.
I think it would just create a little in house
controversy that they probably wanted to avoid. Yeah, you can
make anybody better. You get him as a sixty four
and someone's in eighty one. You build that sixty four up.
You only get four years with him.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Yeah, I didn't one of our buddies have an Eddie
Garcia in there.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
No, he just changed his name.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Okay, it's like a kicker.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
It was like Eddie Garcia from Sampions State, did know.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
I whatever you want, But if you're changing stuff, that's
different because you can go and manipulate anything. Yeah, I
can make him seven foot tall.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Have we seen arch though? Is he good?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Like he played a little bit last year? But what
have we seen?
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Not enough?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I do remember at NCAA, you go back to high
school and you make this guy like six two to
forty is a running back with a visor and all
that same thing, right.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Ish Like in NBA two k you can get a
dude and you play with him in high school, get recruited,
pick the school you're gonna go to. But we don't
only know what Madden or excuse me, what college football
is going to do. I'm super excited about it, Like
I'm I'm playing on playing mad in hardcore until July
and when it comes out, and then taking Arkansas to
tend me ten years to build him back to good.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
So I don't have any consoles. If you guys get
the game, I gotta come over and play. I love
it that game.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Then you should just get the console just for one game. Yes,
I literally play two games. I play Madden basically, that's
all I play. And we have an NBA two K
League that I played that a little bit, but that's it.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
I had my console for what four years? I've played
Call of Duty. I played that for six months, never
played it again. And all I play is two K.
That's it. That's it.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
It's worth it if you play it. And we don't
get online with like kids and headsets and you know,
just randomly getting rooms. We only play with each other.
Oh well that's all well, I said, sure, yeah, all right,
next up?
Speaker 4 (06:28):
All right, with a lot of speculation of Cousins going
to Atlanta, where would you rank the Falcons in their division?
Speaker 2 (06:33):
If they get them number one? I think they're the
favorite of Cousins. Goes especially, he looks great when youre
watching him throwing the tennis court, when he's running around
throwing those balls on the on the hard court, he
looks good. What do I know about his injury, but
he's expected to be ready to go when the season
season starts. They may hold him out a bit of preseason,
but they hold everybody out of preseason. Now, I do
think that they're the favorite with the Bucks. Second, you know,
(06:59):
Baker coming back. Mike Evans signed a new two years Baker. Now,
I'm big Baker guy. It's a big Baker shop, Baker show.
Are you're asking me now what Vegas is gonna do?
But me, I'm probably going Bakers. Yeah, big Baker. But however,
I think they'll be the favorite. I think the Falcon
because the Falcons, their offense is going to be insane
if they get a quarterback. I mean maybe one day
(07:20):
Pitts is actually good because somebod can get them the ball. Yeah,
and everybody that drafts him every single year in fantasy
and like this is the year Pits does great. Maybe
they won't want.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
To Yeah, those like dynasty leagues. Finally, four years later
and paid off Man.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
The big rumor was that he was considering moving his
family from Minnesota to Atlanta, that they were looking at houses.
That doesn't happen a lot in the NFL. Where that
rumor comes out happens a lot with college coaches. Nick
Sabn was down the road looking at a house that
happens in like seven college cities at once every year.
I do think, and it was from Pro Football Talk,
(07:53):
I do think this is there's probably civilidity to this.
But Kirk Cousins is good. He's a solid B plus
quarter back. Thirty fifty eight, it feels like it's fifty eight.
But also the the Commanders are talking about maybe getting
Cousins back as well.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
You need a QB.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
It's just a lot more than that. Yeah, they also
have an early draft pick too, so if they don't
take you know, Drake may or Jane Daniels, they can
get Marvin Harrison to have Terry McLaurin.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
You know.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah, they have a lot of cap room, have a
lot of cap room. New coach Cliff's the offensive coordinator there,
not from Cheers.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Cliff Kingsbury. Oh I did not, So yeah, I'm gonna
go with from Cheers the Mailman.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
But hey, I'm gonna go with the Landa will be
the favorite, all right?
Speaker 4 (08:40):
Next one, all right, going to the NBA. Here the
top four team separated by three games in the West.
Who do you see finishing on top?
Speaker 2 (08:47):
I see Denver still finishing as the one seed. And
if they don't finish as the one seed, they probably
still win the West. They're awesome. If I ever I'm
watching NBA Sunday tickets, which which I have, and some
nights I'll just flip. I watch a decent amount of
okay see games. Yeah, and I would watch it before
(09:08):
they even got fun and good because my wife's team.
And so I have a friend that plays over there.
Now i'd say a buddy more than a buddy, less
than a friend. Jalen Jalen Williams number two for Arkansas. Yeah,
so I do watch that. But anytime I watch Yo,
he's it's like next level. It's like dude playing a
strategy game out there.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
My wife, my wife walked up while we're watching a
Denver game and she goes, who is that dude? Like
lucky to be in the league, right.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
And I'm like, no, it's like somebody from the Why
that got a free pass to come over and play.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
My son was like, Mom, he's amazing. He's like one
of the he is the best player easy.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah. And there are nights where he may shoot the
ball four times. Yeah, he doesn't have the need to
put up twenty five. He may go you know they're
playing me this way, I'll take fourteen assists tonight and
six points. Totally, it's a whole different type of game
in that it's him looking out for the team. He
wants the team to win. But they're good, I still say.
And then they're in a third right now, and they
(10:03):
have the second easiest schedule remaining. I think Denver probably
wins it all again. Denver Boston would probably be my
pick if I had to pick for the finals.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Boston's looking strong man the Clippers.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
If they can stay healthy, they've been really good, but
I would go Denver's probably going to be the team
I see finishing on top with the t Wolves in
Oklahoma City. They're both so young and the t Wolves
are a little older, but they haven't done it other
than that. Playing game well, my favorite player, Pat Bev
jumped up on the table. That was awesome, and they
won the chance they were the playing game championships of
(10:38):
the world. Other than that, they don't have a lot
of experience with this team of winning in the playoffs.
So I would go Denver one, Clippers to Clippers and
Timberwolves in there in that round two and Oklahoma City
going in at four. So but okay, so he's really
good Yeah, they are really good. And Chet has played
every game this year after being injured the whole season.
I don't think he's missed a single game this year's
(11:01):
and he's nine foot tall.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Yeah, it's gigantic.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
It's like a guy running on still especially gonna break something.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Although I keep betting that he's gonna get over the
rebounds whatever the number is, and he never gets over
the rebounds or what's the number, it's changes nine, eight, seven.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
He never gets the over.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
No, because the under he'll play the outside for most
of the game. I'm like, oh, nobody.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Told me that.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Right next question, I lost one, winning eleven of the
past twelve games. Do you think the Celtics are peaking
too early?
Speaker 2 (11:25):
I don't. They're a veteran team with they've been there,
a core group and also veterans that aren't in that
core group that have been there, so you know, obviously
they got their two money men. Brown. Do you think
who would you have if you had to start the
team over? What's who's the one player you would you
would want? Tatum? Is it easily Tatum over over Jalen? Yeah? Okay, yeah,
(11:47):
me too. Probably some people love Jalen Brown even though
he has one.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Hand exactly what's his one hand?
Speaker 6 (11:52):
The leyo?
Speaker 2 (11:52):
No, he can't really dribble his lef hand. Oh he
can better than that.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Yeah, but porzingis stud stud and a few he stays
healthy but again always injured at least in the past,
but not part of that core group. And then they
have arguably one of the best defensive players in the league.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Two.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Who is Eddie the defensive?
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Al Horford? Dude? For sure?
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Now who is it? Who do you think Portland? M
that's in your knowledge?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Here? Come on, keep going?
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Where else where else do you play? The Bucks?
Speaker 4 (12:27):
You're talking about?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Who are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Yeah? Kevin? Who are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Who you're talking about?
Speaker 3 (12:32):
The y and to the UE you? Oh yeah, yeah?
Speaker 2 (12:43):
But ye was he and Derek White?
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Even Derek White he walks a game and as a guard.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
So I think that team, that overall team, that that's
that's six guys that are awesome. Yeah, and you have
the guys that have been there getting close. I don't
think they can peak to early because I think that
the veteran leadership and I think they also have But
even like Drew's not a rookie, he.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Has won he'ship with the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Yeah, yeah he has.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
He hasn't one with Boston. But wasn't he in for
wasn't he in like Portland for a in that trade? Exactly?
Speaker 4 (13:16):
It came from Portland when exactly Yeah, when they got Dame.
The Bucks got dam in Portland in two days and
then he came.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
To the Trick He guys, tricks. I came from Portland technically, yeah,
because he did come.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Kevin, are you upset that they're continue to play Porzingis
even though he know he's not one hundred percent.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
No, they sat him a couple of games ago on
Sunday and then they still beat the Warriors by fifty
that Warriors game. But yeah, like low Key would be like,
all right, just sit him the rest of the season.
Who you know, like just keep him for the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
He is so good Porzingis. Yeah, yeah, we watched off way.
He's so he's tall, He's like it almost feels like
he should break though, but he is thicker. He is thicker,
and that's probably why he gets hurt because he does
break eventually. He is thicker than like the Chets, yeahs and.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Even like the Go Bears, I mean, Go Bear is
a big he's thick.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Go bear is a big.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
Boy's kind of thin go bear.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Really, I don't know about that.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
I've never seen him in person, though, so I don't know.
I'm just going off TV either, but we know he
looks pretty good.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
All right, there you go. That's tittle tattle. We're gonna
get over to these packages in a second.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Yes, we're gonna do a break.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yeah. I like four of them. But I thought my
Larry Bird ball would be cool.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
To bring it on and sit here, thank you, I mean,
look at kem ahead and stop looking at it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:35):

(15:46):
So the semi big announcement that I'm making is that.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Three months or so ago I told my wife. I
was like, hey, I think I want to do like
a little docu series on sports memorabilia. I had a
friend approached me about starting a sports memorabilia like online
company with some other people. I wouldn't do the work.
I would just invest in it. Pretty sway to do it,
pretty prominent front. Yeah, but then it costs more money,
don't have to do anything. And I have some sports memorabilia,
(16:15):
most of its Arkansas. But I was like, yeah, that's cool.
So then I heard about these breaks, and I didn't
give you guys the full context of when I was
doing them, because they are awesome, and I see how
you can get it. I mean, you pay fifty bucks
and they're like, depending on it's like pick your division
one of eight. If they pull your division out of
the box, then you get whatever that is. Sometimes it's
pick your team and there's like thirty and it costs
(16:35):
less because your odds are way less, but they pull
your team, you get. So I'm doing these breaks on
TikTok crazy and the culture, and these guys sit there
and they basically just go home shopping network from their
TikTok a day all day. They mail it to you
if you win it, And so I started collecting all
this stuff up, all these jerseys, have signed stuff. And
my goal was I had a budget that I'd set myself,
(16:57):
and then I'm I was gonna see how much I
can make over a certain amount of time budget, how
much stuff I could get, and then try to sell
it back and see if I could profit off of
it or see what I really liked, well experiment or
see if we also did on ourself, if we could
make money. Like I wanted to do a series on
this culture, and so that's what I've been doing. I've
stopped doing breaks period. I'm not doing it at all.
(17:19):
And it was that hard to quit, yeah, because it's awesome.
Like it was like somebody who goes under cover, like
I'm gonna go test the drug trade. They're like, oh,
I love cocay.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Do you expect to fall with that?
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yeah, I tell you I did one I break. Yeah, well,
see here's the funny one.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Both go ahead.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
So it was like four days ago or so.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
I was scrolling on TikTok and I saw, you know,
a guy in live was doing and I was like,
you know, I haven't gambled in a while.
Speaker 7 (17:45):
So.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
So uh, yeah, I paid thirty bucks and I texted Kevin.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
I was like, hey, I'm gonna choose the Patriots, so
you know, because I don't really keep up with that much,
but I know he loves the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
And so they were trying to fill up.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
And anyway, they ended up canceling it and they were
going to redo it the next day and I totally
forgot about it.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
But I just got a notification that they shipped. Yeah,
but that mean you won? Oh really? Because they ship.
If you lose, you they send you, like I have
three of these. These are cards because it can't be gambling.
So everybody wins something. Did you think you want? You
still might have won, but no, they shipped on everything.
All right.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
He showed me too. He's like, Kevin, I got something
coming for you.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Many are these my cards? Yeah? We go through them.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Okay, Uh so I have what is that?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
My address is on it on the boxes like make
sure you're addresses the show.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yeah good, Mike, thank your mind. A bunch of little creepers.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Out there, bunch of weird. I was trying to get
to my house get mad at and they said nothing.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
No one was even thinking about it.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
All right. The first box bones, hold on what is
this box.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
I don't know where's it from.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
The big white box. I don't know all these people
build these sites. I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Okay, okay, it looks like it's. Oh, that could be
a helmet.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Oh let's see.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Oh two things. That's definitely not a helmet. Here here's
the box.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Okay, the first thing, Christmas, let's do the jersey first.
The first thing inside of.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Hey, practice breaks, do it with your hands. You know
that I was flipped it over real nice?
Speaker 4 (19:16):
No, no, no, no, see what we got here?
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Okay, this if it's in a black bag. What I've learned,
it is an authentic, not a custom custom, which custom
jerseys look like to the.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Jerseys, but no logos.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
But no logos on of the teams. This is an
authentic so it is a far Barbara signed authentic. They're
all signed, everything signed. It's an authentic signed Brett far
Boom Barbara Bovy. Cool. Would you lay that I got white?
Speaker 3 (19:57):
So don't don't let dude, I didn't haven't eaten anything.
I'm good or like. You can put it on the
This is so cool. Okay, this is legit jersey, guys, Yeah, legit.
It's got the NFL logo on it and everything. So
that's a Brett Farb signed armpit sweat jersey.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
No, is that a grass stain.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
This next thing is a helmet. I can tell it's
hellment and it's an authentic helmet because it's heavy. Now
there are replicas which are still awesome to have. Yeah,
and that's what most of them are, because it looks
like a whatever helmet and they just sign it. This
is so heavy, it's it's I wish I wouldn't have
started with an authentic because it's going to be a
letdown for whatever these are.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Those might be authentic too, Okay, so.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Okay, hold on, as you see it's Denver Broncos.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Yeah, that sucks.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
It's a white Denver Bronco's.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Helmetful what just the way you're touching it, man, you
don't want to rub off any autograph on there.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Well, here's what sucks is that I didn't know what
I was opening, and so I didn't know what was
going to be the first And this is my big one.
This is a authentic Denver Broncos signed helmet and it
says John Elway's Super Bowl Champs he signed it. And
the other one says Peyton Manning, super Bowl fifty champs.
They both they both signed this one. When I bought
it immediately, I got a DM some gofer me almost
(21:06):
four thousand dollars for this helmet. Wow, it's a white
Broncos authentic helmet. John Always super Bowl thirty two and
thirty three chairs or something like that. And the other one,
says Peyton Manning. Wow, Number eighteen, super Bowl fifty two.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
That's a big one, boys and girls, that's a big one.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
I won that one.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
That one.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
They were pissed when I won it because they had
never seen that one. Well, there was some Bronco there
was some Broncos fan who had been trying to win forever.
That's that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
That's really really cool.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Number seven sixty. You can pay like sixty, Peyton, it's
all the same. You don't know what you're gonna get.
I easily could have pulled U, you know, Sam Howell,
if they if I pay for it and it comes up.
But I never picked the Broncos. It happened to pick
the Broncos and that hit. That's so cool, dude, Peyton
Manning slash John Elway autographed authentic helmet.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
This is an awesome helmet too.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Yeah, I got two more boxes bones those waffles. Well, no,
this is a let's go, so they call it let's go.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yeah, it's supposed to look like it goes.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Every time I see those boxes, I still just cravy
you open it?
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Yeah, yeah, man, don't pull it out. I won't do anything.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
No you do because you're like all handsy, okay, here
we go. Ys.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Oh, the keys got it?
Speaker 2 (22:23):
So this one is in a box and and in
this one it's the let's goes. Obviously it's that's not
gonna be a helmet because it's a smaller box.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Yeah, Mike, you got a knife.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
We just went through this. Nobody has a knife in
this whole building. The keys because are you talking to you?
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Yeah, yeah, I don't want to mess my finger, all right,
it's opening break it can tears.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
And these are yeah you for sure? So what these
are a lot of times they are either funkos signed
funk gos, or footballs, and the footballs are usually white.
They're not the white yeah, but they're not the game balls.
There's a very few game balls that they put in
that are signed not on white because it's more difficult
to sign them, but they will do those sometimes.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
In this one.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Oh, there's a jersey in here too, so it's not
a fun So there's a jersey first, this is red. Uh,
this is Buffalo running back Cook signed.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Oh yeah, that's something James Cook.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
I'm not gonna pull that one out.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
You want to leave in the bag?
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah, just late over there, but ain't authentic. I don't
want it now, that's not true. But that's a James
Cook Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
How do you know it's a custom?
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Isn't it clear?
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Bag? It says? Okay, got it all right there?
Speaker 2 (23:36):
You know this one is a signed ball. It's white.
It is a double signed David Joku Jerome Ford the
double double signed autograph, which is rare to have them
double signed Browns double sign. That's a good hit. Double
signs were Okay, that's good. I got one more here.
(23:57):
The thing is, I got like nine, but the house
haven't opened yet, dude.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Even Brown's helmet on. This is embroidered into the ball.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Can I see your keys?
Speaker 3 (24:03):
It's cool?
Speaker 8 (24:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Really really like a like a felt uh no, kind
of like a patch. Oh but it's sewn into the ball.
All right? Here go along.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Oh, don't throw it. Okay, this one is a bigger box.
This could be a helmet, but it didn't feel that heavy,
so it could be a replica helmet.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Is it that difference of the weight where like one
feels like a plastic boy helmet?
Speaker 2 (24:27):
I don't know. I mean maybe my head's just going
this one can't be that good.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Okay, oh man, some watch watch that. It is a helmet.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Okay, it feels it feels authentic.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
It's silver. What the heck? Okay?
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I thought the box of Cowboys, like, I don't have
any Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Helmets of what you want?
Speaker 2 (24:50):
I tried o Eagles. It's an authentic Eagles j Jalen hurts.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Wow, Oh, where's the autograph in green to green marker?
That is? That is the coolest thing I've seen that
I'm not a fan of.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
I think this is probably if I were look it
up this exact helmet, Mike, would you look this up? Price?
I bet you it's like a thousand bucks. It's not
Lway Manning double signed super Bowl champions. This is like
other than Patrick Mahomes, probably because it's an authentic not
a replica, and this is specific helmets like I don't
(25:32):
know what color that is.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
It's silver. That's sound like silver.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
It's different.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
What are you talking about, don't?
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
I'm colorblind under different colors. Though it looks like a
different color.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Well, yeah, different line under the yellow light, it looks yellowish.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Yeah, Am I wrong?
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Is it white?
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Cheaper?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Holdout your MIC's not on? Seeing like eight hundred nine hundred. Okay,
So this one here, it's got like glitter on the
eat wings. That's all I have for now here, but bones.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
This is actually really really cool. Like what's cool about
these helmets is they don't look like the team helmets.
They look like some up versions of them, and some
of them I've never seen this kind of Eagles helmet.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Now, I didn't know what I was bringing down here.
I do have a bunch of replicas too, But I
do have a really cool warn Moon replica oilers. Oh yeah,
but he signed and now I've got a couple of
replicas the radio studio Kan City Chiefs running Back Rise.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
What you know this out, Lord Pickens, I've never known
that it's one sticker. The wings are one sticker that
wraps around the whole front of the helmet. I didn't either,
I thought it'd be two stickers. You don't want to
each side.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
This is really cool, man, I don't ever really thought
about that.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
So that's it for now. The announcement, No, you can't
have it.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Let me put this on and do the toush push.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Let's lay off, come on one to you versus read
and we pushed you.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
Down.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
I have some more that we could open if you
guys want to open some more later. Yeah, but it's
it's a lot of fun. I'll play some audio and
me winning some stuff too. But yeah, that's what's up.
Do you have a parley? No, Well, we're waiting for
the lines to come.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Yeah, because it's gotta be. It depends on when we
want this, yeah come out.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
So do we just say pick scroll and pick team four.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
We're just gonna insert it later.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Got what we're gonna put up today.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
That's what we didn't talk about before.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Oh yeah, let's put it up today. Pull good yeah, uh,
because we want to put this up as soon as possible.
Twenty five whistles presented by Draft Kings sports book and

actually gonna insert it right here. Here's your parlay the
Sixers money line.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
They're the favorite.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Who they playing minus two eighteen they're playing the grizz
in Philly. Oh yeah, it's a four partner. By the way,
just collector smiles. Come on next up, Clippers minus six
and a half at the Rockets. Ye, like, it's only
a three parter. I would just pull one out like
that fourth. I saw the fourth one pulling like that
one like three.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
All right, so far, just seventy six ers.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Seventy six of money line. No, no, we're keeping the
Clippers in, okay, Clippers minus six and a half, and
then we're doing the Cleveland money line added land.
Speaker 8 (28:00):
Yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
I feel pretty good about that. It's a plus four ninety.
You know, I had good double smiles. That's how good
a film double smiles. Sixers money line, Cleveland money line,
Clippers spread, which is minus six and a half. Good luck,
go get it. That's the one right there.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Perfect.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Yeah, thank you, I signed off on it. Thank you.

twenty one and up in most eligible states, but age
varies by jurisdiction, eligibility and de positive restrictions apply. Gambling
problem called one hundred gambler in New York called eight
seven seven eight Hope and Y or text Hope and
Y four six seven three sixty nine. Okay, here's Belmont
(28:46):
coach Casey Alexander. He's the head basketball coach. He was
super cool. We went and I mean, basically, we do
the show too much access. We can go and playball.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Yeah, pretty man.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
We interview people. Oile were there.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
I didn't tell you though, that I went to a
game right afterwards and the coaches pow wow. Is pretty
cool man.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
You gotta talk you got it? Oh before the game?
Speaker 6 (29:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (29:06):
What's it called? The coaches? What powow?
Speaker 2 (29:09):
How I thought you were saying? It was like you
were in. He's like, all right, John, you could take it.
Go here top of the key, Eddie, you come in,
you're the number sey Get out of huddle. Man.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
He comes out and like you're having you know whatever,
drinks and snacks with I guess alumni or boosters or whatever.
People and he comes out and he's like, all right,
thank you all for coming. Here's the game plan. This
team's really good. They're number one right now in the division,
and uh, we're going to do this to him. And
they got a big guy, but he's really not that good.
You should have recorded it sent over to the other code.
It's crazy. I'm like, what, why are you telling all
(29:41):
these people this?
Speaker 2 (29:42):
But I don't think they do it every game?
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Do they?
Speaker 2 (29:46):
I don't think they do. I don't know. But everyone's
looking at like it's like they it's like they. I've
been to a couple of those and I don't know.
Sometimes don't know what they're talking about. And I was like, yep, yeah,
huh yeah, I just not like I know that. Here's
what we're three to two. I'll get the pressure to
all yeah yeah, oh yeah, that's a great one. That's
(30:07):
a good coach. I think that'll do it.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
And then there's like an assistant that was there too.
He's kind of like coach Beard from ted Lasso. And
then he come and be like yeah, yeah, but it's
all right, we'll be We're rested. We came off a
good win two game games ago, so We're gonna be
good on this one too.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Casey Alexander, the coach, played point guard for the Bruins
in the nineties. He's in their Athletic Hall of Fame.
He's in the top ten as far as program wins
across the country since twenty nineteen. Fun to chat with here,
he is, coach, Casey Alexander, coach. We appreciate the time
anytime we talk with someone who had to coach at
their alma mater. You know, there's a different kind of
(30:39):
pressure there, a great pressure. But still, how does that,
you know, manifest itself with you? Is it stressful nights?
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Because again, you know more about this programing pretty much anybody.
Speaker 7 (30:49):
Yeah, it's a combination probably of pressure and pride, you know,
and then when you throw on top of that replace
a college basketball Hall of Fame coach that's won over
eight hundred games and a program that's used to winning,
it creates the pressure can mount.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Did he vouch for you? I hope so? I mean
was that a big point? Was he able to pick
a successor? And he looked cross Town.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Said that, yeah, I don't think he's as simple as
picking his successor. But he and I have stayed tremendously
close through the years. Played for him long long ago
and was an assistant coach for him for sixteen years,
So that that connection and then and just him being
such a great mentor to me, it was it was
an easy slide over.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
You ever see a player you're recruiting that it's a
great athlete, can do a lot of things right, but
just has like a funky little shot or something, and
you have to fix something fundamental, but everything else is
so good in prime Do you ever take that project on?
Speaker 7 (31:45):
Yes and no. You know, there really are no perfect
guys out there, you know, especially if you're looking at
both ends of the floor. You know some guys they
all have different talents, and when you recruit them, you
know you're you're obviously very excited about them. You believe
that they they have it takes and they're going to
come in and have great careers. It doesn't always manifest
itself that way, but so what we try to do
(32:05):
is accentuate the positives, certainly work on the negatives, but
you know, that's that's what recruiting is, like, how do
you get a guy that can come in and fit
your program? And maybe he's not the prototype, but he
brings something specific to the table that can really help
you get better.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Why don't they granny shot more free throws? It's question
because and they do in some other countries like I watch,
like Australia, their free throw percentage is so much higher
generally because they granny shot and they're you know, obviously
been a couple guys or one specifically they needs to
do it in the NBA. Is it just because it
looks dumb?
Speaker 7 (32:38):
Yeah, style over substance, you know, it's it literally is
a great question. You know, Rick Berry perfected the granny shot,
and his sons, who are all great college players, shot
it that way. And I think statistics would prove. I
think if we lined everybody up and we started over
and we said this is the only way you're gonna
shoot free throws from now on, the free throw world
(32:58):
would be better.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Maybe it's the name, you know, maybe just change out
of there. Call it like the under power shot, underpower,
you know what I mean, under the power hook shot
hook hook too.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
If your team came to you and said we want
to all shoot granny shots for free throws, what would
you say?
Speaker 7 (33:15):
Granny shots I would probably say no, but if they
wanted the under hook power shot, yes, that's what I'm
talking about.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Considering that, Yes, coach, I feel like being a college
basketball coach is an opportunity to get that plaque on
the wall of like some amazing speech that you had.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
Right.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
But have you ever had like a speech where you
went in there and you're.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
Like, I should not have said that or I said
that wrong? Like I see that.
Speaker 7 (33:40):
It truly is one of those things where the more
I plan what I'm going to say, the worse that
it goes. You know, I think you got to be
pretty authentic in those moments, and if they're relying on
me for their motivation, then we're in a bad place.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
You know.
Speaker 7 (33:50):
But seasons in general, there, you know, there's a ton
it's a roller coaster no matter what season you're in,
who you coach, what the sport is, and so you
you try to stay pretty even kill and you try
to touch on the right buttons when the moment calls
for it.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Do you allow cameras in the locker room?
Speaker 7 (34:05):
I mean we've had them on occasion, you know, yeah, sure,
but not all the time recording everything. Well, we're not
like all exclusive, you know, you know, you guys come
anytime you want to kind of a thing. But for
somebody like you guys, you guys are always welcome.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
You heard it.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
I don't want to always be in the locker room
and be honest, not good smells heard in there. Do
you have to any of the speeches or any of
the lessons that you teach at halftime or practice? Do
you have to like spread them out, especially if it's
like an emotional one or if it's a powerful one
where you want to make sure that everybody's gone from
the last time you've given it, like as soon as
(34:40):
all those guys are.
Speaker 7 (34:41):
Out, when one can now go back. Yes, yeah, no,
not a whole lot of that, you know, a lot
of that will come early team meetings, early season team meetings.
We're gathering for the first time, you know, kind of
laying the ground war. Here's who we are, you know,
here's why we are the way we are, Here's where
our program has come from. Here's what you're stepping into.
So we speak to that a lot, especially here we
get such a great winning tradition that we want everybody
(35:03):
to understand, you know, kind of who they represent and
why but as far as the day to day going
through a season, No, I keep it pretty simple.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
I want to talk about half time adjustments. So if
it's going well or it's going awful, and you're gonna
go into the locker room and do adjustments, why could
you not do adjustments to the same level halfway through
the first half. If it's all the guys that are
just sitting there anyway, they'd be like, coach, we should
do this. Why only at halftime.
Speaker 7 (35:26):
It's not only at half time, it's every time out.
Every time out is full of adjustments. That's really all
that we're communicating to them is.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Half the time adjustments overrated? Then you're just doing it all.
Speaker 7 (35:35):
Definitely overrated. I would get rid of halftime completely if
they would allow us, you know, just give us another
time out, maybe add another minute or two.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
But some kool aid and banas no reason for us
to go back to the locker room.
Speaker 7 (35:45):
You know, we don't have to have the dance team
and you know, and Red Panda out there on the
floor for half time. Let's just let's just make it longer.
But that's that's literally what the game is. Every half,
every time out, every halftime is about here's what we
need to continue to do and here's what we need
to improve on.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Like there are a lot of coaches, lots of coch Yeah,
I don't even know wh's the coach or like who's
just getting to wear the same clothes on the bench?
You know what are what's everybody doing? I don't need
every specific but like, is there just a guy that's
supposed to watch the center? Is there a guy that's
only running to tell you to challenge?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Like?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (36:16):
All? Right?
Speaker 7 (36:17):
Yeah, yeah, that's a great question.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
For our staff.
Speaker 7 (36:19):
We have four assistants, and that's the same for everybody
in the country. You can have a certain number of
people that are actually on the road recruiting or coaching.
On the floor during practice, they all have position groups.
So there's some guys that have the guards, the wings,
the posts, you know, you name it. And so they're
they're selective as far as how they're watching the game
and who they're communicating with. And then you break it down,
you know, who has the scout for this game? You
(36:40):
know we're playing Arkansas, Uh, and uh, you know.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
This coach you'll be this behind it.
Speaker 7 (36:45):
So this coach has uh, this coach has the scout
for Arkansas, so he's more involved in that game. But
the next game we play tm X, and you know,
there's another coach that's that has that scout, so he's
more involved for that game.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
I feel like this year, you guys have played way
better than your record, meaning there's been a lot of
you guys have been in so many freaking close games.
I hope you're right, Yeah, I mean I feel I
do feel that way. I was, you know, following along,
which is why we came here, and looking at where
you're ranked in the conference. I was surprised to see
because again, do you feel like you've had more close
games this season that didn't turn out the way that
(37:18):
you'd hope?
Speaker 7 (37:18):
That never before very much? So there definitely more so
than you know, in our recent past. You know, it's
been over ten years since we've lost three games in
a row. It's been twenty something years since Belmont's lost
four games in a row, and so, and that can
happen quite frequently in a basketball season where you're playing
thirty plus games. So it's unusual territory for us not
to be winning at the at the level that we're
used to. But there's a long way to go.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
You know.
Speaker 7 (37:40):
It's part of my job as a leader and is
to make sure that when it's all said and done
and we wrap it up, we've got good numbers when
it's over.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
How long does it take you to get over a loss?
Because I coach my kids' basketball games, and man, it
just ruins my weekend, ruins my whole weekend.
Speaker 7 (37:55):
Same, it's the same, you know, truly coaching is, especially
when you do it for a profession. I mean, it's
it's really hard to turn it off, almost impossible to
turn it off. You know, you worn't really hard to be,
you know, a good husband in my case, or father,
and I don't know how I do with those things,
but it's hard to ever walk away from it. It's
the and the losses stay with you a lot longer
than the winds do.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
So you came in nineteen twenty, right, that's the first
year's head coach? N the hell here with the year
nineteen twenty? God no, no, like nineteen dash twenty. But
in that time, I mean, we've seen the portal become
a massive part of college athletics in general, and you've
(38:36):
got guys that are coming from bigger schools and then
guys that could use this as a way to get
to bigger schools, Like, how is that affecting recruiting every year?
For you?
Speaker 7 (38:45):
It's a mess. There's not a coach out there who
firmly supports the portal. I think all of us like
for our players to have some opportunity, you know, but
it's it's made a mess of the whole thing, you know.
And going back to the nineteen twenty season, we also
had COVID there for a couple of years, So we
came out of COVID and entered transferred portal season and
(39:07):
it's changed everything quite a bit. This program has always
been about continuity and cohesiveness and kind of being old
seeing guys develop over time, and that model is really
really challenged, and so we have to adapt. We've got
to be different, but we also kind of have to
stay true to who we are and have a culture
here that looks and feels different than everybody else.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Final three questions. If we ask your players to give
us a word, one word to describe your coaching style,
what do you think they would say?
Speaker 7 (39:38):
Oh, man, I don't have one. The first thing that
came to my mind was tough. I mean demanding, maybe
I think in the right way. I mean I want
to push our players at a high level. I want
to be reasonable about it.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
You know.
Speaker 7 (39:53):
I think the old school days of you do it
because I say you do it, those are long gone.
So you try to love them really hard. But also
coaching really hard.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
You who gets to stand up on the bench.
Speaker 7 (40:05):
Other than the rules, you can't stand up certain coach,
technically just the head coach. They'll let an assistant coach
stand up to coach briefly, but he can't remain standing.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
Okay, And when you get kicked out of a game,
do you tell my heads up? Watch this?
Speaker 7 (40:19):
Never prepared for that, unfortunately, because there was a moment
earlier this year where that happened. But there's there's Our
assistant coaches handled that moment really, they adapted and it
was fine. They didn't miss me at all.
Speaker 8 (40:30):
And what do you do?
Speaker 7 (40:32):
What do you do when you this is top secret,
But I was back in the back in the bowels
of the arena on my phone with maybe a GA
during the time I was watching the game on my
computer had a little bit of delay. It kind of
ruined it for me. Because that was about three seconds
behind the crowd that I could hear out in the arena.
It was a road game, you know, so I knew
(40:53):
that something was coming bad. Whenever I heard the crew.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
I pictured you going to Chili's and just like.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Yeah, nobody tells you.
Speaker 7 (41:01):
They escorts you out of the gym, and then there's like, hey,
you're on your own for the next hour, so.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
We'll getting grounded, but just throwing the yard. Basically, great, coach.
What do you want people to know about about Belmont
as a as a program?
Speaker 7 (41:12):
I want him to know what Belmont University is. Man,
It's an awesome community of people. It's I think it's
rooted in the right things. I think we stand for
excellence here, but there's a community of faith that's that's
very important to the people that are here. The culture
across campus, the culture in our department, true student athletes.
And then we've got a lot of banners that show
(41:32):
how successful we've been. We've got a lot of academic
accomplishments that show how successful we've been. But more than anything,
we've got a lot of people out in the world
that are making a difference. And that's what Belmont is
appreciate your time, coach.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Thanks you as coach. Now we're going to get to
the players from Belmont. Here is Malik Dia. Malik's a
hometown kid in Nashville, went to Vanderbilt, transferred to Belmont.
He's a beast on the boards, athletic freak. He's just
in him donc. It's crazy. You can follow him on
Instagram Malik d M A l I kk d I
(42:03):
A Melik da here's my leak. So if you have
a let's say, a breakaway donk or a block or
like a great steal, do you request that clip immediately
for your Instagram?
Speaker 8 (42:14):
Uh? Not not necessarily. It usually finds this way to me.
But it's definitely good to see and I'm just it's
I love seeing them.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
I say that when you saw yourself on Sports Center
Top ten, because that's pretty sick. Yeah. Is that the
coolest thing that's happened, like as far as national press.
Speaker 8 (42:33):
Yeah, no doubt one hundred. I'd say there was one
earlier in the season as well that I thought should
have made it.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
The firming game.
Speaker 8 (42:40):
But that was definitely amazing seeing myself on sports Top ten.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
It was not did you know after that play or
did you have a good feeling or did you even
think about it? Like that was so legit that somebody's
going to show that in a highlight reel.
Speaker 8 (42:53):
Oh yeah, I definitely. As soon as I did it,
I'm like, oh, yeah, this is going everywhere.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Do you tell people though, like you like, hey, you
send it to friends?
Speaker 8 (43:01):
Oh no, I mean I think my friends are the
ones to see it eventually, and they send it to me.
But I'm not just going to go out there and
just be like, oh my gosh, look at me.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
You know, that's all I would not Who do you
have some games depending on who you're playing against, that
maybe your role completely changes for a game or is
it consistent regardless.
Speaker 8 (43:18):
I think I try to say consistent in my efforts
each and every game, and you know, I know who
I am as a player. But some games just like
maybe you got to get your teammates more involved because
you know they're helping off a lot, and some games
it's like you got to be more aggressive because you
know you have a better matchup. So I think just
going into each and every game, you just got to
look for, you know, the small things that will help
the team win.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Can you tell in the first two to three minutes
how physical the refs are going to allow the game
to be. And is that always the indicator of the
entire game or sometimes they just change.
Speaker 8 (43:45):
I think sometimes it change. You know, I really try
to have a good relationship with the refs, you know,
I try and go and talk to them before the
game and stuff. But usually you can see if they're
going to let you play and let you be physical
or you know, you got they're gonna call it tight
or not in the first like two three minutes or so.
But sometimes as it will change. You know, you talk
to them, you drive and you know, get a good
feel for them and see what's happening.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
So you ever look them up and find out what,
like the kid's name is and before games like yo, hey, Chuck,
I saw Mendy turn eleven. Happy birthdays on the spelling
be right, because then it's it's it's humans, right, I mean,
they're supposed to be refs, but we're all just humans.
You have to do anything like that.
Speaker 8 (44:21):
I should, yeah, I mean call on every referee, You're right, Yeah,
I need I need to start doing that. Maybe maybe
we'll give me a few more fabs.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
Yeah, they won't they won't mean to do it, but
they will just do it naturally because we're humans.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Yeah, I need a fundamentals. How often are you still
working on fundamentals or is that kind of something that
like you just did when you were younger? Do you
still do the figure eight work?
Speaker 1 (44:41):
You know?
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (44:42):
I still do all the fundamentals. Man, I'm in the
gym every single day. It's just something I love to do.
Working on the fundamentals are really like the basics. You
don't really got to do anything flashy. I think there's
a lot of easy ways to get points and help
your team and just be so effective and simple ways. So,
I mean, the flashy stuff is cool every now and then,
but like you know, you don't really need to accessively
work on that more so I work on like fundamentals
(45:04):
and just being a good basics basketball player.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
Is basketball still fun for you always?
Speaker 8 (45:09):
Every single day?
Speaker 2 (45:10):
I mean? And that's kind of what it's about, right.
If you love doing it, you probably work harder at it.
You work harder at it, you get better at it.
Speaker 8 (45:15):
Yeah, I just say, you know, growing up playing basketball
is just like it just grasped me so so strongly,
and I was just like, this is something I really
want to do in my life, and I just want
to put my all into a work hard at so
I can be good at it. And not only that,
when you're working at it, I feel like it's just
so much fun. It's just like you're in the gym,
You're doing what you love.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
You know.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
So do you do you want the ball game online?
Of course? Do you say?
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Do you do?
Speaker 2 (45:39):
You say that?
Speaker 8 (45:42):
I mean I do I like coach out Xander, do
what's best for the team. You know, I think he
knows what's best, but in my mind I'm always ready.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
To take I really know, like he thinks he knows,
but you really know, like you know, no, you know,
I guess yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
Yeah, Malik, you're a local kid, like you grew up
up in the area. What's it like come to school, like,
you know, right down the street from your house, not literally,
but you know, do your parents show up all the time?
Speaker 8 (46:07):
And yeah, I'd say just having my parents say at
every game is just you know, amazing. Then having my
like friends and people who are in town and stuff
just to come see me as amazing. So I definitely
say it wasn't the main part of my decision. But
I definitely say it is super helpful and it's just
amazing for everybody to come and just you know, show
support and just have the site behind my back.
Speaker 5 (46:28):
How's your foot?
Speaker 8 (46:29):
It's good, it's great.
Speaker 6 (46:30):
Now.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
Nothing.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
You don't worry about it anymore. No, mentally, don't worry
about anymore.
Speaker 8 (46:34):
Mentally, I don't even think about it, you know. Just
it was it was a big hump to come over
at first. But I think now that you know, basketball
seasons came in, I'm more focused on the season and stuff.
I think everything's been going well. I think I don't
really think about it anymore.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
Do you think about how much sleep you get to night?
Speaker 8 (46:51):
Yeah, I've had a lot of people tell me, tell
me about my sleep. Atters I need to work on
that and get more sleep.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
So it ain't good, that's what you're saying. It's a
working Yeah, me too. Well, we really appreciate the time,
good luck the rest season and hope you stay healthy.
Appreciate it, good luck, appreciate it now. Our chat with
guard Cad Tyson. He was throwing the ball off the
wall and doing windmill slams when we were there. He
was twenty twenty two, Carolina. Mister basketball in high school
just shoots like crazy. Follow him on Instagram at cad
(47:20):
Tyson at c A d E T Y s O N.
Here he is Kad Tyson. How tall are you really? Really?
Shoes off?
Speaker 5 (47:28):
Six y sixes on six seven?
Speaker 2 (47:30):
Shouldn't they always measure with shoes on?
Speaker 1 (47:31):
Though?
Speaker 2 (47:32):
Because when do you not play with shoes I guess
that's a good point. I don't know because I if
someone asked me how tall are you? I don't go
shoes off. Like my driver's license, just say six to
one and the driver's sl on it. The driver's likes
is more official than anything that that's happening in you know,
college basketball. So so six ' seven, did you ever
have a growth spurt that hurt?
Speaker 5 (47:53):
Not necessarily that hurt, but I had a big gross spur,
like during my sophomore year in high school?
Speaker 2 (47:59):
And you grew how many inches in that season?
Speaker 5 (48:02):
A year?
Speaker 2 (48:04):
Probably about five or six. Were you one of those
guys that had a ton of ball handling skills? Then
you grew even more so then you had all the skills?
Speaker 5 (48:11):
I mean, I wouldn't say all that. I just stay consistent,
try to that's why I say too, But.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
What's the confidence level, like, you know, being a college
basketball player and just knowing that you are as good
as anyone out there?
Speaker 5 (48:24):
Yeah, I mean, you know, I try and stay levelheaded
all the time, and I get too high and I
get too low based off one game or one practice.
That's pretty much it.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
You ever watch film and watch yourself in both scenarios
like God, I'm so good, I should that you should
be getting more minutes? Or how am I not? How's
he not pulling me? Like? Does that happen?
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (48:46):
It's usually more of how's he not pulling me out
the game? I tend to focus on the negative a
lot when I watch film, just because, like I said,
I don't want to get too high or low, so
I focus more on the spots I can get better.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
When you come in and as a freshman you get
accolades like crazy, you come back for your sophomore year.
Is there a leadership role that they kind of expect
you to fall into now that you've been here a season?
Speaker 3 (49:09):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (49:09):
Yeah, definitely, And I mean I've been working on that.
I've said a lot there. I'm not the most vocal guy,
but I've had to step up and be a lot
more vocal this year.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
So is that uncomfortable for you? And do you do
you push yourself to do it even if it doesn't
feel comfortable.
Speaker 5 (49:23):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's definitely uncomfortable. I don't like
to do it, but I mean I know that if
we want to win games and we want to be
a good team, that I gotta I gotta take on
that role.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
What abou high school? When're playing highchoolall, were you more
vocal then or were you just like a scion assassin
as well? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (49:36):
I wasn't very vocal. I mean I had some other
guys on my team that like to speak up, and
you know, high school is a little different. You just
go out there and play the game, which I mean
is what I try and do regardless. But yeah, I
wasn't as vocal in high school for sure.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
What was the for you the level like going from
high school senior year to freshman year because you kind
of came in and you know, you started popping off
pretty quick. Uh, was it not as drastic of a
change as you thought?
Speaker 5 (50:01):
Yeah, definitely. I was kind of a little bit skeptical
about where I would see myself fit in at the
next level, but it just seemed to work out well.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
Why Belmont.
Speaker 5 (50:14):
I like the Christian aspect of it, and I just
felt like I felt like I could see myself going
there and playing getting good minutes, and I like the
I definitely like the coaching staff and the relationships that
I built over the recruit process.
Speaker 2 (50:27):
When you're getting recruited, does coach say I can see
you playing freshman year, like you're gonna play freshman year?
Or does he say we'd love to have your talented
and you're gonna have to I don't know, work and
see if we can get you in there.
Speaker 5 (50:37):
Uh, honestly, I really don't remember, but it was probably
more of the first the first statement.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
He sees minutes for you. Yeah, if you don't play
X amount of minutes, that's disappointing to you, either because
you didn't play well or maybe had you got hurt,
Like how many minutes do you want to play?
Speaker 8 (50:53):
Game?
Speaker 5 (50:54):
Yeah? I mean I don't really focus on the minutes.
I just focus on when I get out there, just
going out there, competing, playing harder than everybody else court,
and you just see what happens.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
You don't talk any trash at all.
Speaker 5 (51:04):
I do sometimes not when I'm playing bad though, I
gotta make sure i'm playing.
Speaker 2 (51:07):
That'd be the worst time to talk to.
Speaker 3 (51:10):
Equipment wise, Like if you want an arm sleeve, you
want some j's Like do you just ask them and
they give them to.
Speaker 5 (51:17):
I mean, I'm sure why not ja's because I mean,
right right, right right, you know what I mean. I'm
sure I could ask for like a cast sleeve or
something and then I have to fill out some paper
maybe lie on the form a little bit like my
cat has been hurting or something. But I mean I
could probably get one if I wanted to.
Speaker 2 (51:31):
What about when you get treatment? You'd be like, oh
but really you're not. You just kind of want to
massage that ever happened?
Speaker 5 (51:36):
Yeah, but no, no, no, no, just the regular sweetest
message you have.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
Any rocks my back because that's a resource, right.
Speaker 5 (51:45):
Yeah, yeah, I mean you could do that, but yeah,
I tend to not.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
Yeah, I would say that too, but I would be like,
oh my neck, can you get myema quads to by
my feet? Uh? This season, I feel like you guys
have been so close and so many of these games.
I was telling Coach that it's like you guys are
playing way better I feel than your record is. I've
not seen a team be as good that lose so
(52:10):
many close games. What do you think the X factor is?
It's going to take you guys through the next part
of the season, I guess the next half of the
season even to get you guys ready for the tournament.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
Yeah, I mean, most of all, just staying consistent, coming
in here and practice every day, just trying to get
better every single day, look at film, work on what
we see we need to work on, and just keep
getting better.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
You like Nashville?
Speaker 5 (52:32):
Oh yeah, most definitely.
Speaker 2 (52:34):
Well you smiled, Like why why you like Nashville?
Speaker 5 (52:37):
Well, there's no shortness of food for sure, so you
can go anywhere. That's just some good food. And I've
never lived in like a big city, so it's all
it's all new to me. But I mean I like it.
I like it a lot.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
All right.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
Well, what's traveling like inn on a basketball team? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (52:54):
That was one of my worst things last year coming
in as a freshman. I just hated travel. I mean,
it's tough, but you start to get used to it
after a while.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Is it cool though?
Speaker 3 (53:02):
Do you get time to like go see the city
you're in or is it just like no games over
and back home?
Speaker 5 (53:07):
Sometimes you do some trips you do, sometimes you don't.
But it's also it's also cool hanging out in the
hotel with you guys. You know, some might bring a
console or something. You're playing video games when you gotta
not necessarily a day off, but when you got time
to so.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Play twister and stuff.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
That'd twister.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Not twister.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Is there a dedicated he's bringing the PS five guy?
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Yeah, because that's a lot like you put a PS
five in your back.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
It's always a freshman h No, not no, it was
last year, but not anymore so. Yeah, because so if
everybody thinks somebody's gonna do it, nobody does it. Then
you get there and there's no two K and then
everybody's upset. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (53:43):
You just on TikTok the whole the whole time.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
Yeah, and then you get the messages like you should
turn TikTok off and I swipe out of that that
it's like you've probably been to wait too long. Get
out of that. Well, good luck the rest of the season.
Stay healthy. We appreciate the time, yep, I appreciate it.
I think all those guys putting those interviews with us
and you want to open af youew more bought because
before we go?
Speaker 3 (54:01):
Yeah, two more egos?
Speaker 2 (54:03):
Well this one I actually pulled it right before I
came down and it's in an Eggo box.
Speaker 3 (54:10):
But this is a Mike Vick football Oh wow, you
got to Mike Vick things.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Well I gave. I traded the other one to listen,
that's right.
Speaker 3 (54:16):
I forgot about that.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
I sent him to Mike Vick because my vet, who's
a friend of mine, was like, no, Mike, I don't hear.
So I traded him a Mike Vick for a Raiders player.
I don't even know who it was, that Mark Cooper Raiders.
I already have that one. It's like a Josh Jacobs
maybe that and he may not even be the Raiders.
But I was gonna give it to DJ Gasso, who's
a huge Raiders fan. But would you like the jersey
(54:37):
even if he leaves the team?
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Is Josh Jacobs not a Raider anymore?
Speaker 4 (54:41):
Well, he's gonna be a free agent.
Speaker 2 (54:42):
Yeah, But I'm saying, is it worth more if they're
on a different team in your mind? Or is it like, oh,
he's not even playing for them anymore?
Speaker 4 (54:49):
Depends how long you're.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
There, like not to wear to show? Oh like would
DJ be like, oh may he's not on the team anymore.
Speaker 3 (54:58):
Oh, Josh Jacobs was a good player for the Raiders
for a long for few years.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
Okay, well I haven't decided yet. I also have but
Myers tied in jersey from the Raiders. Okay, you put
that over with. That's my book, all right. Here is
another one of those uh just break its where it's
either a football or a.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
What are they called it? Jersey?
Speaker 2 (55:19):
No, it's never a jersey. It's either a football, a cleat.
I've never got a cleat.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
Oh, I've never seen a clee.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
Or it is a funko, which you're cool. The funkos,
I oddly think are really cool because they signed.
Speaker 3 (55:31):
I have two.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
I told you you have Terry McLaurin, which I have
at the studio, and then I have.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
For Stapleton.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
They're not a player digs Buffalo seven digs funko. First
of all, Oh, I want a bunch of Oh this
is when I had a card break those.
Speaker 3 (55:49):
Are I just saw it was correct?
Speaker 2 (55:54):
Okay, I didn't even know that's what that was.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
Oh my goodness, And it just fell out of the box.
Be careful with that stuff.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
Man, Well it's in a plastic case, doesn't matter. I
don't know what this is.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
That looks like a birfold Larry Bird.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
Oh my god, bro, easy, let me tell you what
this is. I remember winning this and going. So it's
not any of these. This is not a funk go.
This is not a cleat. This is not a football.
It's the only time I've seen it, not one of
the three. So is this hold on? I gonna I
want to pull it out so you guys can't see.
Speaker 3 (56:24):
Don't okay, No, don't look. Guys, you can look.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
I'm going to try to get it where you can't
see until I show it.
Speaker 3 (56:31):
Don't look, don't don't look. Don't look, So Mike turn around.
Speaker 2 (56:34):
Because I don't think it's a funk go. It's an
action figure. So here's what it is, Joe. It's a
Barry Sanders signed NFL Action figure. Barry Sanders obviously for
the Lions.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
NFL Action Do you remember these, Kevin?
Speaker 2 (56:49):
Yeah, is that what it's called? The NFL Action I
think that's what you said, right, I just said NFL
Action figure?
Speaker 3 (56:54):
Oh forget then I be wrong.
Speaker 4 (56:57):
But yeah, I remember those.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
It's called uh it's a legacy series, but it's Barry
Sanders and he signed it.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
That's awesome. Gosh, my kids are gonna love this stuff. Yeah,
they would love it.
Speaker 2 (57:11):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (57:11):
Thanks man, Dang, do you remember it's like.
Speaker 2 (57:16):

it's a game ball that exactly they use. So they
wrap it in cell a phane. So I'm just gonna
show you the game ball. So it's a literal NFL ball.
