In this episode Carlos and Lenny share their thoughts on the 2018 Swedish sci-fi movie Aniara, directed by Pella Kågerman & Hugo Lilja, based on the epic poem of the same name by Harry Martinson: "With Earth in disrepair and no longer inhabitable, the human race begins to leave the planet for a new home on Mars. One of the departing vessels, the ship Aniara, runs through a field of space wreckage shortly after takeoff and is damaged beyond repair. With Aniara knocked off-course and drifting powerlessly out of control, the crew and passengers alike must wrestle with the reality of their fate. Crew member MR (Emelie Jonsson) operates a sentient computer that allows humans to experience idyllic memories of their lives on Earth. As the ship drifts further into space, the passengers begin to lose hope and sanity amid the growing sense of disaster. Pressure builds on MR as she is the only one who can keep the burgeoning insanity and lethal depression at bay." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Voidcast Linktree: https://linktr.ee/veganvoidcast Voidcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/veganvoidcast Voidcast email: veganvoidcast@protonmail.com Voidcast channel on the Vegan Antinatalist Club Discord server: https://discord.gg/VFkUJKJ2Wb ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aniara (the movie) official website: https://www.aniarafilm.com/ Aniara (the movie) on IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7589524/ Aniara (the movie) official trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXK1NP73n4c Harry Martinson – Aniara (the poem): https://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:lb-lb441882-etext Harry Martinson – Aniara (the poem), trans.
