After nearly a decade of law enforcement both on the streets and as a crisis and hostage negotiator, Jeremy Nicks is taking what he's learned sharing it with others. Jeremy is a trauma survivor in both the emotional and physical sense. Facing childhood traumas including cancer as well as recovering and living with a PTSD diagnosis from his various life experiences. His hope is to share the hope he's discovering on a daily basis as his healing happens in real time. Real conversations on how to negotiate: Trauma, life, Marriage, Kids, Work, and everything else he runs into on a daily basis.
I never even understood what emotional grounding was. All I knew was I lived up in my head a lot. On this episode we'll talk a little about the effects of traumas and how we can use a simple technique in a moment to get "out of our head" and back into the present when traumas have us wanting to fight, flight, freeze or fawn.
It's all about 5, 4, 3, 2, 2
Another authentic moment in the journey. When I first started to negotiate my life toward wholeness I didn't want to do it. I was actually made to do it by my wife. She gave me the ultimatum of go or "go!" and I knew what she meant.
But the question is, "Will any journey toward health work if we are doing it for someone else?" What if the motive isn't right?
That's what we'll talk about today as we Negotiate...
After a year of a fairly private journey toward wholeness, I've decided to return and repurpose this podcast with a new season.
We're still talking about "negotiating life" but, for this next season, we will talk about the various tools I've learned to negotiate the pains and traumas of life into wholeness.
