Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time to go around the Room with Elvis Duran
in the morning show Around the.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Room and Frob.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I want to start with you here on Food News Thursday.
What's going on?

Speaker 4 (00:10):
So, as you've talked about, I guess my wife is
storing a big birthday party for me later next month.
So yesterday she says, Hey, can we sit down and
talk about the things I need you to get done
around the house before the party. I'm like, wait a second.
If it's not a surprise, you gotta work, but you're
gonna give me a list of crap I gotta get
done before the party. She's like, yeah, I'm like, all right,
So I don't know what that list is. I haven't

(00:31):
seen it yet, but there's the list of things I
must get done before the party. Hopefully that happens. That's
not fair. Well, if it doesn't, we're still gonna have
the party. Even if I'll get the stuff done.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
You shouldn't have to prepare for your own party.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
Might be bad if you don't get it done.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I elvisd I think you should text her and tell her.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
He shouldn't have to tell her right now. You know
she can't get away with you, so what's up, Gandhi?

Speaker 5 (00:55):
All right, I forgot to mention yesterday, so really quickly
a new episode of my podcast came out on the
side wherever you get your podcasts, but also the iHeartRadio app.
Please go listen. We had a good time with Andrew,
but today has felt heavy for a lot of people.
It's probably going to continue to feel heavy for people
for a while with everything that is going on in
the world.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Right.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
I know that when it gets this way, people think
what can I do? And instead of feeling hopeless, I
always say, and we've talked about this before, go out
and volunteer, do something nice, and you will be very
surprised at how it turns around how you're feeling about things.
Just to get out and be around like minded people
who are all on the same page of trying to
make the world a better place while it feels like
we're looking at so much of the world becoming a
bad place. Go out and volunteer if you can. That's

(01:34):
my recommendation to you today.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
I think I'm coming with you today, are you. Yeah?
The thing is that we're packing lunch boxes and things. Yeah,
and I have this bloody fingernail.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
You should probably put a band aid on that. Maybe
we'll get you a glove.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
What do you hate to like? Go volunteer today and
you pack a bunch of meals into boxes and at
the end of the day you look down and your
fingernail is gone. You buddy, I want to do this.
I want to do this.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
I would love for you to.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Go ahead and volunteer. I think that's the best.

Speaker 7 (02:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Yeah, you're doing something for other people, and it's actually
you know, at the end of the day, you're doing
something for you at the same time. Absolutely, hey, scary,
what's up with you?

Speaker 3 (02:13):
So?

Speaker 7 (02:13):
Yeah, no, it is a heavy day, and I just
for me, I look toward escape escapism. I always look
for positive things and fun things to do. And guess
what here in New York City today the San Gennaro
Feast starts. It's New York to start of New York
City Fashion Week. So I'm gonna try and look toward
Are you going to fashion Week? I was invited to
an event, believe it or not, because I lack fashion.

(02:35):
But we'll see either. You know, somebody will teach me
a thing or two. But but my larger point here
is that, yeah, I will look to do positive things
and just maybe maybe I'll volunteer too.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah, I have a lot on my plate today, but
maybe I'll volunteer tomorrow, volunteer wal this weekend. If he
says he's gonna volunteer, he gets credit for saying he's
gonna volunteer even if he doesn't show up. That's scary.
What a great guy he said. They may volunteer.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
Delivery coming today?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Can I do it tomorrow? Scary? But what you're saying
is you're doing things to take care of yourself, and
that is what you should be doing. Straight and eight.
What's up with you today?

Speaker 8 (03:08):
Okay, some tasks you do by yourself and you realize, God,
I could really use another person for this. Yesterday, I'm
trying to put an area rug in my living room
and put a couch on top of it. I gave
up after an hour and a half because I just
could not do it. There is in no possible way
to move a rug and get a couch on top

(03:30):
of it and have the rug centered where you need
you need you pau.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Alex knows how to do. I'm watching over and show me.
You knows he won't do that, but he'll tell you
it comes over. He's got to do the work. You
gotta you gotta jacket up. I will get into it later,
but yeah, you can do it. You can't do don't
give up on yourself. I don't give up.

Speaker 7 (03:55):
I gave up. Baby.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Hey, Danielle, what's up.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
I'd like to talk about British people for a moment.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
So husband.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Not listening, that's exactly.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
So my husband is actually getting hernia surgery today. Shout
out to Hackensack University Medical Center. So he's there and
they're updating me. You know, he's in the operating room.
He's this, he's that I tried to stay home today
and be there at the facility. He's like, no, you
need to go to work. It's nine to eleven. It's

(04:25):
an important day. You need to And I said, and
I agreed with that, and I said yeah. So he said,
you're giving me more stress by wanting to come. He says,
just come, you know, a little earlier, leave the show
a little earlier, and then come.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
So that's what I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
But these Brits are very hardheaded and they really like it,
like stiff up her lip and get it done. And
that's how he is. So love you honey. I know
you can't hear me right now because you're in the surgery,
but I love you and I'll be at the hospital
soon whether you like.

Speaker 8 (04:52):
It or not.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, there you go. She's on the way. I tell you, man,
crazy brit He's really crazy. Hey, producer, Sam, are you around?

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I'm here?

Speaker 2 (05:00):
What's okay?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
So this has been an around the room of mine before,
but I thought it was a good time to bring
it back up. Make yourself a happy board whenever you
are able, And what that is is just a board
of things that are actionable you can do that you know,
bring you joy and make them like all kinds of
you know, levels of accessibility, Like my smallest one for
me is either playing with some pottery clay or getting

(05:24):
a specialty coffee from the place I really love and
on days I need it but I feel like I
can't use my brain, I just open up my list.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
And I do whatever things I'm able to do on
that list. So I thought now would kind of just
be a good reminder for everyone to make that list
for themselves when they're able, Because now I'm gonna go
watch my niece play soccer, because yesterday I felt like
I needed some happy stuff, so I plan that date
with my sister and it made me feel better.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
There you go, a happy board. I like that. Yeah,
I'm gonna make a happy board. I'm gonna put but
sniffing on there.

Speaker 8 (05:53):
Please your boat buddy.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Like the Walmart butt sniffer out in California. I like that.
You know what, that's all point of this. You gotta
take care of yourself. No one's gonna take care of
you as well as you can if you give yourself
the love you deserve. So take care of yourself.
