Speaker 1 (00:00):
In here, Mateo, come come see come see it. That
was incredible. Wow, Li from the Mercedes Fins interview lounge,
that was incredible. How how you pull that off at
this hour with our awful equipment?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
That's not true.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
That was great. That was beautiful. Thank you. People are
texting in saying they're crying on the way to work. Okay,
their makeup is running?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Is it? Is it a nice thing to make people cry?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah, it is. That's a good cry. Well, usually when
I make them cry, it's a bad cry. I'm an
evil jerk. Whoa who the cursing?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Like?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Who the F is this guy? That's beautiful. Congratulations, you
sound awesome.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
And all people asking my gosh, Mateo Bachelly, is he
related to mean? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
He is.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Do you see what it.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Says on the back of his baseball hat beautiful disaster
on my song from the album Well, I think you're
describing yourself exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
That's who I am, A beautiful disaster.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Well, welcome to New York. I think you just flew in.
I mean you got in at three this morning.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, yes, I played in Huntington. It was an incredible gig.
I loved it. So much. Loved the venue and then yeah,
with the bus we came to New York and you
know we arrived. I was in bed at three am.
But still the times it's killing me.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So I know, you look good, you know, to look
like you're resting. Yeah, you think you're about to fall
over right now? I think you're so nice. Well, I
got to say, uh, I know your your father is
at Madison Square Garden tonight. That's an okay venue. Yeah,
that's okay. Is the Garden in New York City? Is
it a world famous place where all artists want to play?
(01:49):
Or is it just a United States? No?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
No, no, no it is.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Why is that it's really not that great of a place,
it really is it. It's just it's just a big room.
What makes it special?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I mean obviously the history, you know, I mean everyone
played there, and you know New York is New York
is the city where you know, that's the thing happens.
And you know it's the city that never sleeps obviously
to as well.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
We've been away since Mondays.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah too much, but yes, and I mean I had
to the honor, you know, to perform there with my
father too. And yes, there's a special energy. I love
it so much.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
We we have our concert every year. It's called jingle Ball.
We sell out the garden in three minutes every year.
This year we had we had Share she's seventy seven
years old. She's still popping, man, She's that's good. We
had had a lot of people there, Sizza One Republic,
Olivia Rodrigo.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah, cool, you should do jingle Ball takeo. I mean,
if you invite me, why not, can you imagine?
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah? I have a question.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
So your dad has you know, we all know who
he is, right, famous singer. When you went to him
and said I want to do the same thing, what
did he say to you?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
What was that like?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Well, obviously it wasn't so, you know, like something that
happened like one day exactly. He started to you know,
understand that that was my dream. But yeah, around the
age of sixteen seventeen, I also had the chance to
make a record with David Foster. But my father was like, no,
you're too young, You're not ready. He was trying with
(03:28):
his old strength to not make me sing because it
was like, I know what this business is about, you know,
I know the music industry is very tough. And if
I have to imasure my son, you know, challenging in that,
you know, in that industry. I'm not super happy, but
you know, at the end, you can stop people's dream
you can stop like someone that loved to do something.
(03:48):
And so everything actually started with following me in twenty eighteen.
And yeah, since then, it's been a beautiful journey.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
What would you be doing if you weren't singing?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh, I don't know. I mean I really love the countryside.
We we produce wine and probably something like that.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Did you bring me a bottle's? Where's my bottle?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I should? You're right, I should always, you know, fly
and travel with wine.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
You should always have a case a singing you.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
I'll give you the story as if you come to Italy.
There you go, let us know what part of Italy?
What part of Italy Tuscany? What part of Tuscany exactly?
So the countryside town is called Liaiatico, right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
We were. I'm in Tuscany a lot. So don't say that.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
I said it. I said it. I keep promises I
will find you, I promises.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So growing up, did you come to New York a lot?
Did you?
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah? You know, lots of memories of New York since
it was a little kid, right, and yeah, I have
to be honest. When I was Yeah, when I was little,
I didn't appreciate this city so much because you know,
you're a little kid. You're coming from you know, little
town that it's not very crowded. Then suddenly you're here
and you know there's you know, different personalities, and I was.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
That's a nice way of putting it.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
But no, no, no, no. But growing up then obviously you
appreciate a lot of things this city. And so yeah,
now I love it very much.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
It's tough. It's a tough town.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Man. I don't know if I could live in the
city because still, you know, I was born in a
town where it's very quiet, and you know, New York
is big, it's crowded. So I don't know for life
if I could, you know, live in a place like
this one. But every time I come here, I have
it's cool. I love it.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
So where you grow up, the smells are the well,
the agriculture smells delicious, and food cooking in the kitchen
here it smells like dog pee.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
York.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
But that's it's a New York. You know, when it rains,
they say when it when New York City, when it rains,
it makes its own sauce. Okay, is that I can't
wait to stay here? But so here you are in
town at the same time your father's playing at the garden?
Are you gonna do you? Are you a fan of
(06:14):
your dad? Do you like to go and watch him perform?
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah? I mean I you know, I saw I see
him his concerts since it was very little, But yes,
I enjoy them very much.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Always, And we gotta get you on stage. You think absolutely?
You should you need, you need to perform at the garden.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
You should come.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
I'm gonna call your dad right now. You know, I
never ever ask a performer to do this, but I
hear that, mateo, He'll just start singing. What just acapella?
You're just an acapella guy. Here's what I love an
artists that do a cappella. They always sound great, but
there's no instrument playing next to them, so you could
be way off key. No one would ever know. It's
(06:54):
like that's not.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Unfortunately, don I have that. You don't have that call
it yeah in his high whenever whenever, like you play
a note at the piano and and you can guess exactly.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Oh perfect pitch, Yeah perfect. Charlie Pooth has that. I
gonna go d sharp like oh soo Lemo one of
my favorite songs of all time.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Cupber Lockcort, You're not soul, Naudios the Puutumn Pressed Laudia
fres Cop Potter, John of Fast.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Curb Lock course On.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
No, you're not the soul.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Whatever, whatever you do, do not say a song title.
He's a start. I didn't ask you to say. You
just start saying. It's crazy. He's got like this thing,
this gift. He just can't help himself. That's awesome. That's awesome.
So your album MATEO came out in September. Yeah, and uh,
what what was it like for you coming up with
(08:16):
this album? Worldwide? People talking about it. I mean, now
you truly see what the business is like for you?
Is it really something? This is your You're in for life,
You're in.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
No, you understand that it's challenging, but it's cool. I
mean whenever I think that, whenever you love something, you
don't have to be you know, you don't have to
feel any fears and just do it. And that's how
I think, you know, I think that this is what
everyone should do. You know, whenever you love something, just
do it. You don't you don't have to start like
overthinking on it. Then obviously there are pressures, there are
(08:50):
you know, responsibilities. Right Sometimes when when they say, you know,
you have a very heavy last name, I know, I know,
but it's you know, is it a Sometimes do you
feel like, oh, Dad his shadow. No, honestly, no, I
see it in a very positive way. I mean, he
did a lot of good things in his life, and
(09:11):
so I'm very happy. You know whenever I hear people,
you know, talking with love about him, and you know,
it's it's actually it's a it's an amazing example, and
it's you know, it's it's a way to say to think,
I want to get there one day. You know, I
love that.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
You know.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
I saw your father perform. Gosh, it was an outdoor
it was outdoors at Puccini.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
It was.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Yes, I saw your dad perform there and we were
just we were all just crying, just in tears. It
was the most beautiful moment of my life. And so
I'm like, we gotta go get really drunk right now
to process what we just saw. Uh, And.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Do you guys want to.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
He'll see Andrea Bocelli tonight because something tells me, something
tells me. But tales can end up on the stage.
I've got tickets we may show up to now we
have we have our in, we have are in at
the Curd, We're in, We're in. So twenty twenty four
here it comes. What are your what are your dreams
for twenty twenty four and rolling into the new year.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
So definitely keep you know, going on with live shows.
We already we just announced Australia, but definitely I'll be
back in US. So definitely like live shows, is you know,
is the thing for me? I mean I always say that,
you know, for for an artist, it's it's about creativity,
and that's in the studio when you make you know,
(10:35):
new songs, and the other off is our live shows.
So that's my twenty twenty four. They're looking forward for
many more concerts and you know, many new songs. Do
you get nervous when they say and you have to
go on and say, do you get the butterflies? Do you?
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Is it still an excitement or a fright? Which one
is it?
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Or both? No? Now it starts to be more excitement.
At the big I was super, you know, like I
switched from you know, playing home in twenty eighteen, I
mean till twenty eighteen, like playing home just for the family, friends,
you know, a few strangers to you know, jumping on
stage with my father doing the most important radio's, most
(11:18):
important TV shows. So at the time it was a
big you know, it was a I felt a lot
of pressure, to be honest, But now I do everything
with way more excitement and less fear.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
I always say there's a thin line between fright and excitement. Yeah,
but sometimes you can be so excited and just throw
up all over the place. I've done that. I'm not
gonna do it now. But what are you saying over there?
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Head? He's at Foxwoods tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Oh you're gonna Foxwoods. Oh take cash, You're gonna you
can gamble in the casino. It's great on Saturday, Atlantic.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Session, Tacket and Atlantic City.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Do you have a gambling problem? These are both? Like
these are casinos? Like, actually, I have a friend home.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
He's I gotta start flying and traveling with you, and
we're gonna make gigs only in casinos. You're gonna sing
and I'm gonna spend all your money. That sounds like
a life I'm in. But tell you, I cannot tell
you how excited we are that you. You woke up
in the middle of the night and your entire family,
(12:21):
your crew came in. Thank you so much, No, thank you,
it's such a such a pleasure.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
That was a gift.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Thank you, Thank you for having me.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
But see when you leave, we're all gonna go back
down to this awful place. We're just we're just tacky,
tacky Americans.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Whenever you're downe call me. I'll be back.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Okay, we promised you at your own show at the Garden,
but I gotta start working on that. Please make some
noise from a table.
