Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fly from the Mercedes Benz interview Lounge. We're about to
talk to Max George. He's zooming in from the UK.
Hope this thing works anyway. It's been over ten years
since we've seen Max and The Wanted. They're all in
our studios and I can't believe it's been that long.
That's crazy. How old does that make me? Now? God? Okay,

(00:24):
moving on?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, can we move on from that? There is?

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hey, Max, welcome to the show. It's good to see
you at long last. I mean, it's been ten over
ten years.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Over ten years, guys. Yeah, and I'm delighted to be
on the show. Thanks so much for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Well, okay, So Max and Siva from The Wanted back together.
They're doing The Wanted two point zero, which I think
is a brilliant idea. Yeah, and you're traveling around the
world and you're you're coming to New York. We're gonna
talk about that show in a second.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, that's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
It's gonna be to like pop back on the road
and do this. You must be just beside yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, I mean, I'll be honest, obvious. I've been I've
been asking the band to get back together from about
a week after we split up the first time in
twenty fourteen, so a few years ago. It almost happened,
but then COVID hit and then unfortunately Tom got ill,
and then since then myself and Seva have been plugging

(01:21):
away and had a lot of conversations with everyone, and
the best thing for everyone was that me and sever
take the one two point oh forward. And what better
place to start than, you know, the greatest city on
earth in my opinion.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I love that. Well, thank you, Honored to have you back. Yeah,
I know when Tom got ill, you all came together
and I remember seeing you guys on stage singing with him,
and I was we were all touched. We've been watching you,
We've been stalking you.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I've been watching you too. Rate you look amazing by
the way.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Oh come on, you know what you want a piece
of Big Daddy, doesn't you?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah to be Yeah, I did like the bear about you.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Well, you know, we of course are dog Max. We
named Max after Max. Yeah, that's how we got the
name because my husband Alex wants to have sex with Max.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Joe listening, I mean, I was going to say, the
greatest accolade of mine is the fact that you name
your dog after me, other than your husband wanted to
have sex with me, I think that might be number one.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Now what a wonder? Yeah, So what was that conversation? Like,
I mean, the Wanted was such a huge part of
our lives those many years ago, and now you're coming
back as two point zero. What was that interaction like
between the two of you?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
The word thing was is that when the first time
around myself Inceiver, weren't you know, the closest We were
close in terms of being together and as work colleagues,
and we got on really well, but we weren't like
really close. But then I think the last couple of years,
with certain things happening in our lives, I think maybe
changed perspective on certain things. And our passion for the

(02:54):
band and the music and celebrating all the hits that
we had with the fan base that we still have,
I think that we both just connected with it and
was like, we're going to do this, we need to
do this, and yeah, to be going on the road
and experiencing this with someone that is so passionate about
the wanted two point h and the wanted for what
we stood for is Yeah, I mean it's a mega

(03:17):
feeling man. And like I said, opening in New York
for me personally, it's like that's the dream man because
New York to me is my favorite city in the world.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Well, we're going to sell some tickets, I know, because
the information for Sony Hall and the performance is coming
up in a second. Did you want to ask Max something? Yeah,
So you know, it's been ten years, so people's musical, taste, musical,
you know, everything changes. So what will be different now
from you know, from ten years ago.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Well, I think, first of all, I think we just
get better looking with age. I think that's one thing. Okay, Well,
I think when we sort of wrote the songs and
recorded the songs, our aim was to do timeless song.
Luckily for us, they've stood the test of time in
terms of Spotify and everything. Our numbers are really really good.

(04:07):
So I think all of that energy that's built up
over ten years, we're going to do all of the
hits that we had all over the world. In the UK,
I know, obviously in the US we GLADU Came was
our biggest tit. So Glad you came, we'll definitely be
in there. So we're just going to put a new
twist on all of our biggest songs, and just all

(04:28):
all of that built up energy over ten years, we're
just going to absolutely explode it in Sony Hall.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Okay, so it has. But you guys have already toured before,
so you know each other well enough and you know
each other's road habits. Do you have rules for the
road while you're traveling together, rules for the road, tour bus,
stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Na, that was more of a Tom thing that, Yeah,
Tom Tom was he was the naughty boy out of everyone,
So yeah, he had tending to do that. And I remember, yeah,
I mean a few there's a few stories of the
tour bus, but toilet story is the best one. I
think was when we were absolutely hammered one night and

(05:11):
started Jay started having a week against the curtain where
the driver was thinking it was the toilet, and needless
to say, the driver wasn't very happy when he saw
it coming down the stairs. Still no, So yeah, none
of that, And to be honest, I think that it's

(05:33):
probably going to be a lot smoother this time in
terms of, you know, rules and stuff, because I haven't
had a drink in four years now, so I feel
like I'll not only be a lot calmer, but I
think I'll be able to enjoy it more and at
least remember where I've been.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
And now you were here today, now you're Max George
two point oh. You know, it's it's all making sense.
And I love the fact that you sort of admitted
it when you guys were together back in the day.
You and see if I hate at each other, Oh
my god.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, yeah, I mean I mean Siba probably hated me
more than hate Yeah, let's be hon I was. I
was a pain in the ass, let's say. But no,
we it was just that we had our own lives.
I think back then in terms of within the band,
you know, Civa was with Narisha and like me and
Tom were very close and sort of partying all the time.
So but I think like it's just gone full circle,

(06:26):
which to me is such a nice feeling.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Well, Max, it's great to have you on, it's great
to see you, and you look great and I can't
wait for the energy that you're going to bring into
town because there's a huge, huge mountain of the wanted
fans here in town. So they wanted two point Oh.
It's Max Georgie and Siva. They will be at Sony
Hall October sixth, So if you go to Sony Hall

(06:49):
dot com for October sixth with the Wanted two point
zero with Max and Siva, excellent. Should we make a request?
What should we play? Don't want it? Gladuc Yeah, all right,
thank you, Max,
