Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today's Daily Highlight from Elvis Duran in the Morning Show.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hey, so this morning, early earlier this morning, we received
a text from Scott. Scott says I'm quitting my job today.
And I'm like, we got to talk to Scott because
there's always a story there. Every quitting story and every
hiring story has a different story. Scott's online twenty. Can
you push the button there?
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Scary?
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Hello Scott? Are you still quitting? I mean, it was
three hours ago you told us you were leaving your
job today. Are you still doing it?
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (00:27):
Yeah, so I'm actually putting I'm putting in my notice
today and you know, plan to quit, planning the click
very soon. Haven't changed my mind yet. I guess the
morning is still young, but you know, most likely Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Okay, all right, So is this something you're really excited
about or is it something you sadly have to do?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Or I mean, what's the story there?
Speaker 5 (00:49):
It's a mix of both.
Speaker 6 (00:50):
Right.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
So I live in the DC area and I am
going to another opportunity here in the DC area that
I'm very excited about. And I mean, unfortunately I'm leaving
a very incredible company. There's really no bad blood there,
but I will say that it was you guys over
the I mean I've been listening since I was twelve
or thirteen when you guys came on in Columbus, Georgia,
(01:11):
and y'all have encouraged so many people to, you know,
take that step if that's something you want to do.
And I wouldn't have done it without the encouragement of
my best friends. You guys.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Wow, it nice.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah, I think that's awesome. I love that we encourage
people to quit. But I think when something isn't serving
you anymore, and especially you have a new opportunity, do it.
I hope you don't have second thoughts today because a
lot of times you just need to take that leap,
and if you wait for the time to be right,
you'll wait forever.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
So you just have to do it. Amen, sister, Ye, congratulations,
what's up? I want to say something Nate.
Speaker 6 (01:47):
Yeah, I got a question for you, Scott. Did you
just reach your ceiling or was it the people or
the environment? Like what made you want to change? Because
a lot of people are in a in a job
right now like well, I'm not getting promoted, I'm not
getting a rouse, you know, wish they would do something
for me. But I think you probably just took the
onus upon yourself and said, you know what, if I
want to change, I'm gonna have to do it myself.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Am I correct?
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Yeah? So rewind like several several years ago, I was
on the show with you guys when I was in
college and Elvis asked what I was majoring adiphold on
accounting and he was like, oh, figures, and yeah, sost
forth to today, I'm still an accountant. And so the
push to leave was kind of like the environment in
the sense of like work life balance. Right, the people
(02:32):
have been incredible, you know. That's that they made it
hard to leave. That was a hard decision to make
based on the people. But the work life balance was
something that I really valued. And this new company I'm
going to, I feel like, really does value that. And again,
you know, you guys pushing people to make those choices
that better themselves. I really appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Well, you know it didn't How old are you, if
I may ask, Scott, Yeah, I'm thirty, okay, so you're
still young basically. So I mean you you have all
sorts of things you can rush toward and do in
your life and dreams that you want to make come true.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
This and that.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Keep keep those in your mind. You know, everyone listening
to this show. Doesn't matter how young or old you are.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
You have these dreams.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
And once you give up in those dreams, that's when
you need to start discovering yourself a little more and
get to know yourself better. Because there are other dreams
in there. You need to mine them out right. You
got to go digging for them. You got to get
you got to get to them. But never give up
on those. You know, at some point, I'll say, speaking
from someone my age, you get to a point in
your life where, okay, what's left?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Is this all there is? Of course no, of course not.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
There's always something else waiting to be found within or
through discovery through friends, like for instance, Gandhi is She's
kind of a north star for me when it comes
to things like this. Gandhi is always looking for something
new to do and some more trouble to get into
and rethinking what she's doing now and and you know,
and maybe turning it into something else and folding into
(03:56):
another life, another career, or another side of hustle whatever,
and yelled as well. Danielle's gosh, going to the theater,
make three times a week, always in the city, always
a champion for a sports team here and there, and
her kids and you know, you, guys, you have a
lot of mileage left on you as far as things
to do on your to do list in life.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
I'm still looking for some new stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
And I know there are people Scott who are in
their twenties who are like, Okay, is this all there is?
It's not only an old person thing an older person.
There are people your age in thirty in the thirties going,
oh god, there's got to be more to life. There is,
But you got to go out there and look for it.
You got to sniff it out and be inspired, learn
new things, never stop learning ever.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
And you can't get moments and experience back unless you
know what I mean. Like, there's sometimes there's only one
shot to do certain things. And if you're working or
you can't get the time off, or you know what
I mean, it's it's I learned that during COVID. During COVID,
I feel like, especially with the kids, like, look, these
moments matter. Some of these moments you're not going to
get back. It's one shot, and that's it, so you
(04:57):
got to take advantage.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Do you say that Elvis? It's funny all that you
say that about? Is that all there is? Because that's
I pose that exact question to my therapist when I
was kind of going through this process of like is
this really all there is? And you know she gave
it to you, but thankyback you did like, no, no,
this isn't it. There's much more out there. And so
for the first time since I was sixteen, I'll go
a month without working but looking forward to to them opportunity.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Wow, yeah, gandhi are you what are your thoughts?
Speaker 6 (05:27):
Scott?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
What are you going to do with that month? If
it's the first time you haven't worked since we're sixteen?
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (05:32):
I'm actually my friend group from childhood is going to
go on a cruise and it's the ten year anniversary
of the last time we did it together. And I
won't mention the cruise line because unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
It's not because it's the wrong But enjoy that month.
It's going to be an amazing thing.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
But you know what, when you do ask your therapist
or yourself is this all there is? The answer could
easily frighteningly be yes. If you allow it to be right.
You you have to be the spark plug. There's no
one else that can do it other than you. And
I'm so happy for you, Scott. Take your month off,
hit the high seas on you know, the inferior cruise line.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
That's okay.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
But when you when you get back, when you get back,
you have a whole new life ahead of you. And
you know what, and that's not at the end of it.
There'll be other changes and other and other moves in
your life.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
And good for you. So exciting for sure, exactly.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Thank you, Scot. And Gandhi is big fan of salt
from the side by the way, Oh.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
My god, I love you. Thank you. Good back.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
So you do have the demented side, we see, yes
he does, all right. Thank you Scott, and thank you
for listening to you. We have so much.
