Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today's Daily Highlight from Elvis Duran in the Morning show.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Uh, and what else do we want to talk about?
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Oh, someone gave me some advice the other day. It
was never give up, and I'm thinking, yeah, sometimes you should.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
You definitely give up.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Sometimes sometimes if something isn't working, you need to let
it go and move on.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, never give up. How about don't go to bed angry?
Speaker 5 (00:29):
Why not?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
What's wrong with going to be angry?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
I wish I could live by that, but that's that
doesn't happen.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
Sometimes I'd cause you to stay up all night.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Well I know, but also sometimes it gives you an
entire night of sleep to rethink things.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
So in the morning maybe you can add a little
little better. I don't know. Maybe.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Also, so I'm looking at this list I found. I
found this on BuzzFeed somewhere. Another another piece of advice.
When there's a bully, just ignore them. Well wait, no, bullies,
they're not going to stop bullying just gives you ignore them.
They're bullies.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Yeah, Sometimes then they need it.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Back right and it needs to be addressed or it's
very least okay, more advice that maybe we should we
should stop following. Don't be afraid to do what you love.
The money will follow as long as you're doing what
you love.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
No, No, that's tough.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
That's like a tough one because I really so. When
I started out in radio, I made less than nothing,
I mean nothing at all to me too, right, my
first paycheck, I think it was like twelve dollars. It
was embarrassing and I took a picture of it because
I was so happy to be doing what I loved.
And after some time, and thank god my sister was around.
I mean, you do end up turning it into a
(01:40):
passion and a career and something that fulfills you.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I cannot agree more.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Unless you really have to pay the bills, because yeah,
then I think you have to.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Be kids different stories.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Sometimes you gotta pay.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
You gotta pay the bills while you're pursuing that thing
you're passionate about. But also so you gotta you gotta
work your ass off and multitask more advice that maybe
it's not that easy to follow.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Tough it out. That was, you know what, just tough
it out.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Well, not always, I mean, sometimes you're gonna take a break,
think it over, take a moment. My dad used to say,
Elvis take a moment, think this through, take care of yourself,
and then keep going or you'll run yourself nuts.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Oh how about forgive and forget? How about that advice?
Speaker 5 (02:25):
I'll not dam it, but I'll never forget.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Yeah, don't ever forget it. Always remember.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yep, Yeah, I guess it should be forgive, but don't
ever forget. As you're saying, there's nine times out of
ten people's poor behavior, it's part of a pattern. Usually
for we want shame on you, for me twice, shame
on me. Right advice? Treat people how you want to
be treated.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
No, that's good, Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
That's no. So okay. My dad taught me this one.
He said, the Golden rule is bunk because you treat
people how you want to be treated. But you should
treat people how they want to be treated. So I
love when people make fun of me. I think it's hilarious.
In turn, I will make fun of other people. Maybe
they hate that. So I shouldn't treat them how I
want to be treated. I should treat them how they
want to be treated.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Well, also, you could be taken advantage of instead treat
people the way they treat you. It's a better way
of looking at Maybe you know, you treat me like crap.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Okay at the beginning, you treat people the way you
want to be treating in the beginning. But if that
person mistreats you, then you could treat them the way
that they've treated you, just to be like, okay, that's
how you treat people. Then we can equal that.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
You put that into a saying, though I.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Don't know it pretty much.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
And finally, we use this all the time and as
a matter of fact, we used it today. Trust your gut,
I mean the spirit of trust your gut is it's big,
it's empowering, right, but people with anxiety and other issues,
their gut may be working against them. Sometimes sometimes your
gut may work against you. So I guess one person said,
(03:57):
if it were up to my gut, I'd never do anything.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
I tend to trust my mom's gut more than anything. Like,
she's a good person when it comes to that stuff.
And I go, Mom, what do you think about it?
And she, you know, go ahead.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
If everything was up to Scotty's gut, he will just
puke all day, yeah, eat, crack his pants, throw up
and poop yep there, so yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
There are some cases where these words of advice are good,
but not every single time.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
And I think sometimes it works in certain cases and
not in all cases, you know, So.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Answer this question. I'll go to you Daniel first, trust
your brain or trust your heart?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Which one?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Oh gosh, it's that's so tough because I think it
depends on the situation. I don't think it's cut and dry.
Just think it depends.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Gandhi, trust your your gut first or no, no, trust
your brain first?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Or trust your heart first?
Speaker 4 (04:48):
My heart or my brain? I'm sorry, definitely brain. My
heart is an idiot.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Wow, it's true. And one more, you know, I'll go
to Froggy. Froggy, trust your brain or trust your heart.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
That's hard. H your brain?
Speaker 3 (05:07):
There you go, you know, Uh, I must say trust
my heart first.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
It get me into trouble. It gets me into trouble
almost every time. Yep.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
But I know that my heart is fueled by passion
and it's fueled by desire. It's fueled by these things
that can work against one set oneself. Right, But passion
and desire, I don't know. It's the fiery part of me.
I just I. I usually go with my heart and
a lot of times, I you know, I get it broken.
