Speaker 1 (00:02):
What would you talk about on your on your podcast
firms show. So I just went back to my old
high school not more than two weeks ago, and you're allowed. Yeah,
(00:23):
they used to be a wall of fame up and
I was reportedly on it at one point. You know
what about friends Shelley who works here at the radio
stations even hundred with us. She said, Scary, you gotta
come down to your alma mater, Edward on Morrow High
School and see because you're up on their wall of fame.
Well I went there and on that particular night, I
(00:48):
had vanished from the wall. It was. I wasn't up
there anymore by the time. In the time that she
had told me to come see my picture and my
information up there, Scary Jones, this is your class from
this year high school. Blah blah blah, it was gone.
I was ready to like Instagram and I'm like, yeah,
look at me, I'm on my old high school's wall
of fame. Someone had removed me. But what was There
(01:10):
were people that were more important I guess that went
to the school than than me. Yeah, like who was it? Oh, well,
back in the day, there was the Beastie Boys, there
was M. C. A the rapper who passed of the trio.
I get that. Yah. Yeah, he went to his pictures
on the wall, right, yeah, he's there. I like that.
(01:31):
He said, I guess who are more important? And then
Merssa Tomay same thing so and then and then there's
little Mama who did that song lip gloss. You know
what you know about me? So in the pecking order
of my school, it would go, I guess m c
A or Marissa Tomay first and second. Then men, No,
(01:55):
I'm more I'm more famous than little Mama. Mama was
everywhere right now where she's getting into modeling. She was
a judge on one of those talent shows like X
Factor or one of them. She was one of the judges. Mama,
she reinvented herself. That puts me at number four. Then
who made more money? You were Little Mama this year. Mama. Okay,
So that's that's mine. I'm not trying to rein on
(02:18):
your parade and saying, well, in my high school, I
went freshman year to a Catholic high school, Preston High School,
and Jennifer Lopez graduated from there. She actually she actually
came back to choreograph my show when I was there
when I was a freshman, she had graduated. Um, so
I would say on the pecking order, Jennifer Lopez is
(02:39):
a lot higher than I am. But yeah, because that's it,
that's it, that's it. But then after that, from sophomore
year to uh senior year, I went to Christopher Columbus
High School in the Bronx and and Bancroft graduated from
there in sixties. Johnny Monell, who was from the Orioles,
(02:59):
I don't know if he's plays Okay, Um, other than that,
these names don't really ring a bell to me. Well wait, wait, wait,
David Burgowins the son of Sam, I don't know. I
don't think it's I don't know if this is the
son of Sam. Though it looks like a different David Berger. Wit,
it's the same one. Okay, So you're like fourth favorites.
Maybe I'm fourth famous. I didn't know any of those
(03:21):
people except for Jlo. If that makes you feel better,
Danielle would be number two. It was number one. It's
two different school. And Bancroft is it legendary Hollywood actress?
Well you know or not? She wouldn't be considered more famous.
But I agree Daniel's right below. Jlo don't know. It
doesn't mean it's not a thing. There's lots of stuff.
(03:43):
Who went to your high Schoolho's more famous than you? Everybody.
I went to a giant high school in South Florida,
and when I heard people talking about this, like Google,
I didn't even know some of these people graduated from
my high school because my graduating class was almost two
thousand people and that was just my class. It's like, Googled,
are you ready for this? Nick Turbull who plays in
the NFL and apparently as a g Q model now
little pump. Wow. Yeah, Bridget Carey, who's a seenort senior editor,
(04:07):
Carry Williams, Tennessee Titan, Conway Black, a cornerback for the
Oakland Raiders. Conceded who's on wild now he's a battle rapper.
J D. Martinez of the Buston Red Sox. Like Napoli,
who is now a free agent. I don't hear any women.
A lot of sports people. I know. Bridget Carrey was
a woman. Jim Allers, a m M a fighter A.
(04:28):
Leah Atkinson who is an an Olympic swimmer. Robert Love,
the director of engineering at Google ram L Mulubi who
was an American Idol contestant, and Eric Alejandro representing Puerto
Rico and the Olympics in two thousand twelve. I'm going
to say about that. On the list, yeah, you know Wikipedia,
you can put in your own stuff. Yeah. There are
people who graduated my high school and who put on
(04:50):
the Notable Alumni weren't really famous, Like you had some
people on the list like he's an engineer, like Google
that had an engineer. But that's a job that doesn't
make you famous. That's true, right, There's people like uh actor,
but they're not in anything wrestler, but they weren't like
a w W E wrestler. They might think that, you know,
but it's not really famous. Not that I'm famous, but
I'm on the list. Um, uh should I go next?
(05:13):
We're going on the table. I am I am sixth
most famous. Now that the high school I went to
is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in May, so in fifty years,
I think number six is in bed so I am
behad now again, the other people on the list, I'm
sure they're very good people. There's a judge like there's
good people. But as far as like well known Spike
Lee would be number one. I went to John Dewey
(05:35):
High School in Brooklyn, New York. Colin Quinn, who people say,
I sound like we went to same high school. Uh.
Larry Charles, who's he executive produced Seinfeld and Curb Enthusiasm.
He's a famous this's the job he is. He's okay.
Um Andie Martinez who in New York is a very
very very very very very famous DJ. Yeah. I mean
(05:59):
she went globe when when she worked at another radio
station and uh career. Yeah, she's a big deal. And
and when I told her, I told her went to
the sam High School. You know what? She said? What
did you expect to happen from that conversation? I expected,
since we worked together, for her to say, oh, that's
pretty cool. What you did you graduate? And who was
your favorite teacher? I got didn't. Barry Sobel, who was
(06:22):
a very big comic in the eighties. Uh. And Barry Sobel.
If you ever seen Tom Hanks in the movie Punchline,
he was the comic that Tom Hanks had to think
more famous than him. No, Barry Sobel's famous. Barry Sobel
was a big comic in the eighties. He does voice
of a working if he's I'm more famous the little
mom You're not, You're not more Twitter followers. I got more.
(06:48):
I don't know where I stand in the list of
fame in East Brunswick, New Jersey, or from East Brunswick
High School. But here's who we got. We got Matt
Penfield from MTV, who I met several times last moment.
You kind of look like him, do I remember seeing
him walk through the hallways. So I was a freshman,
he was a senior. UM. Heather O'Reilly, she played for
(07:12):
the Olympic soccer team UM and she played women's professional
Heather o'reiley. That's right, Josh Miller. He's a punter for
UH two NFL Super Bowl teams, the Patriots and for
the Steelers. UM. Then you have Jesse Eisenberg, who's you know,
the actor right, it's five. But Jesse Eisenberg came in
(07:36):
here and was actually a very interesting human A long
time he was I felt like he wouldn't stop talking.
I had to feel like I gotta go. His sister,
Haley Eisenberg, UM actress. Yeah yeah, yeah. And then myself,
You're like, we're seven seven And if I counted wrong.
Don't tweet me. Come on, I'm more. I'm more famous
(07:58):
than Heather o'reiley and John Miller. I do know who
Haley Eisenberg is? What does she want been in? Uh?
Is it h A L L I? E? Yes? Okay,
she was the Pepsi girl. If I show you this
girl's picture, I'll be like, oh my god, I know
who she? Okay she was in? Oh yeah, who was?
What else is she didn't? Hold on? We're demoting your Garrett.
(08:22):
Let's see THEO Rossi from Sons of Anarchy. Let's see
the Impractical Jokers, all of them, a bunch of New
York congressmen that all have been caught in sexual lacks
that could and every one the jokes. The jokes brothers
didn't go to your school. Colin's brother did. But Foul
(08:48):
is famous than you now he's on Practical Jokers. So
I'm sorry. Oh boy, man, it's all right. Your top ten. Yeah,
I'm alright with that. What about you, Danielle? We need that.
We did. All of us came over all right. So
it looks like Scary is the closest to number one
because he was sort of fourth. Yeah, I'm number four,
but here's the thing. My school was brand new in
nineteen seventy four, so it doesn't have a long storied
(09:10):
history like most high schools it was. It had only
been around. It's only been around for like what forty
years years? So there you go. So in the forty
five years, they haven't had much. Now, your your schools
probably been around for like years old, now not mine.
Mine started in That's what came out of my high
(09:31):
But even so, you had the beastie boys at your school.
So even if you came in number two, let's just say,
you're still nowhere near number one. What do you mean
only one beast boy went there? Even so, it doesn't matter.
You're you're not even close to the Like Mercy Tomay
is an Academy Award winning right actress, Right, so you're
a little mama come onsp popping. So you're a distant fourth,
(09:53):
but that's still close to the top. I'm like a
ha ha thing, right, None of us actually think we're
super favorite. I don't know, not at all on the list.
I gotta be honest, I think I'm a little famous.
I had to be honest. You were a local celebrity.
I think I'm a little famous. I did the valedictorian
speech at my school. So did you scurry? Right? Yes,
(10:14):
I did. I did the guest speaker. I did the
commencement speech. Later, I went back to both my middle
school and my high school and offered commencement speeches. I
have never been offered. Cologe he graduated at I went
and gave the speech. You know, they asked me to
(10:40):
do an interview with them one time, and I thought
like I was gonna be in their magazine, like my
mom would see him, be like, oh my god, I'm
so proud. And then he goes that the guy that
wrote the article with me, he goes, we're just gonna
put it online. I gave you good stuff, man, the
article about Danielle. Yeah right, I can't believe it. I
actually would love. I've spoken at my college St. John
(11:01):
University several times for communications and radio. I've never been
asked to the graduation um to like speak at the
graduation for the students. That would be amazing to me,
and I'll know I've done good things when I'm asking
out the first pitch of the Yankee game. That's a
big deal. Scary. And I went to the same Junior
high school or with some people call it middle school.
(11:23):
And he's gone back for principal for a day like
nine times. I have not once asked me back. And
I did very well there. And at my middle school,
I was just inducted into the Hall of Fame on
that so the middle school Intermediate in Coney Island, Brooklyn,
Mark Quine Junior High School for the gifted and talented,
that's what it's called. And I was both and I'm I'm,
(11:44):
I guess I'm behind you on the list. Well I guess,
I guess so because you're not in, you're not in
the Hall of Fame. Good thing little mama didn't go to.
You know who was inducted before me was Angie Martinez
went to that middle school. So Angie Martinez tell her
in the hallway. So for me. And then this year
one of the one of the this woman who worked
with Sarah barellis to create Waitress, the musical on Broadway.
(12:07):
Uh Nadia Dgi Leonardo sidekick. No, she's she's did the choreography,
the music, and she just she took the torch from
me and now she's now on the Mark Twain inducted
into the Hall of Fame. Where's your invite? B You
think little Mama took your picture down at Edward Almorrow
like talented? I was both that you needed both Hi
(12:31):
school I took. I took the drama talent and I
took the creative writing talent tests to get in. And
you have to pass both with flying colors, and I
think on creative writing better on drama. I was a
music talent. I played the cello. Nice I had to
take a music test and still play the cello. This
is middle school now we're talking about this in high school.
(12:52):
I did it to meet two girls that were playing
the cello. That didn't work. Always the best story to start.
I'm still friends with them. Yeah yeah. Has anyone else
ever spoken at their graduation, I've never My commencement speaker
at Ohio State was Bill Clinton. So I'm never going
to get in fighting for that high school I have
but not. But I was graduating high school. Mrissa Tomay
(13:15):
was the commencement speak That's cool. Oh Bill Clinton had
been out of office for like a hundred years by
the time he spoken. Yeah, yeah, I don't think I'll
ever get in fighted though, I'm not sure they knew you. Well,
do you remember who spoke at your your commencement at mine? Yeah,
one of our teachers that we asked to speak. He
was keynote speakers. Nope, we didn't even get one of those. Nope,
(13:35):
keynote speaker. We had no keynote speaker, nothing, zero, nothing
about it. I had a baseball coach, Joe Torre, who
used to coach. H that's cool name, going to drop it. Yeah,
that was hard, that was good. I remember. I think
we have like a senator or something from my year.
Nobody nobody wanted to hear I did in college. Well,
(13:57):
I just got it when I got this job with
this show. I got a letter from the Ohio State
University saying, we're so proud of you. Congratulations. We're going
to add you to our list of successful alumni. I
think they just wanted money. And here's an envelope. Yeah.
I don't think they had to meet any It is
on my fridge. But your contribution in this envelope YEA.
And I laughed because, like, my sister is a pediatric
(14:17):
nurse practitioners. She's like out saving lives every day. And
I was like, where's your letter be? But your your
college found you though, right, Yes? Isn't it crazy how
they can just find you? You moved from Boston to
New Jersey, they still find you. Didn't say, hey, guess
what college I'm moving. But if you's Google Gandhi, I
think you've got a shot of nobody's trying to find
(14:39):
me and I'm here yelling about it. I'm here, nobody's
finding me. Yeah, we're all right. Nobody's trying to look
for me. Now what? An Idiot's fifteen minute morning show
(15:00):
