Speaker 1 (00:01):
Put your hands together, and we're going to start to
party and start.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm ready to party.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
The Elvis Duran after Party.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
Here we go, it's the after party. Phone tap, let's
talk about it. Let's talk to intern Ben.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Is he here? I'm here?

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Oh, there's intern Ben Ben on the show today. We've
got Nate, We've got Scary, We've got Danielle and Gandhi
and Scottie Bees in the other room. And it was
Garrett and uh and you. So Ben goes to Pace University.
He's here Monday, Wednesday, Friday. And believe you, Tuesdays and
Thursdays are awful without.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
You, Ben.

Speaker 5 (00:40):
I'm sure very boring.

Speaker 6 (00:41):
We struggled.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Okay, so what classes you taking? Anything interesting?

Speaker 5 (00:46):
I'm actually well, this one's not interesting, but science one
oh one is my hardest class this semester because I'm
awful at science. Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Gandhi would love to help you in tutor. She's a
science freak.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
That would be perfect because it's mykest weakest quality for
your stuff in Oh, bring in I have. It's a
remote class and I got a lab kit.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Oh my gosh, wow, it's not Wait, so you have
to do lab stuff at home at home.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
It's like rocks in a box.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I learned, blow up your kitchen.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
The rest of the classes are great, but that one.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
So which one of your classes has the professor that
is encouraging swear words to be used in the everyday
conversations in the in the room?

Speaker 5 (01:28):
Yeah, so that class I dropped. But it was a
management class and it was also online. It was a
zoom and the first day the professor is doing the
syllabus and he's like, yeah, and one thing about my
class is that I really just want to encourage you
guys to swear and be comfortable in that way, and
then proceeded to play like a ten minute video about
why that's important.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Well, why is it? What did you learn from that video?

Speaker 5 (01:51):
That he wants to be the cool professor is what
I learned, And he wasn't.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
Why did you drop the class?

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Because I have to come here wednesdays, Gonna drop it anyways,
But I you know what.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I have to say that if you do let people
just speak like they normally speak and drop a curse
every now and then you do feel more comfortable because
you're yourself. And if that's how you are, then you
know what I mean? Like so that kind of makes
sense to me. He wants to kind of create that atmosphere.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
I agree, Except for when you go into an interview
or something like that in a professional space and now
you've been like programmed to not have that type of
code switching behavior, I feel like that could get you
into some stick.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Help me tell you not to do that.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
You didn't.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Well, Okay, you're in a professional space right now, and
you can feel free say say whatever, Say what which?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
What's your favorite curse word?

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Oh my god, I don't know if I have one.
I feel like fuck is the most.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Like.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Yeah, but I was asking you to give me an
example rather than just using just for the fun of it,
right right, I mean, do you feel comfortable in this space?
The reason I'm asking is because in this business, we
have our own rules. We curse, and we sexually annihilate
people in the building all the time, annihilate.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
We don't do that.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Can you imagine that walking into your interview, going hey,
how the fuck are you?

Speaker 4 (03:27):
I see your point though, If you feel that in
a college setting, that is preparing you for all the
possibilities in the world outside college and in businesses And oh.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Right, I mean here Obviously it can be a more
relaxed and you're supposed to be yourself. That's kind of
the point. But that's not every workplace, and I'm sure
plenty of workplaces wouldn't want you to speak in that way.
So and I would never say that to a professor.

Speaker 6 (03:58):
Yeah right, we'll all be fired in immediately. If we
were not here, it would happen day one, every single
person out the door.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
But that was appropriate at my other job.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Maybe it all out and allowing yourself to do that,
it also teaches you restraint in the times that you
need to be in the professional setting. So maybe that's
part of the lesson, right because as you said before,
you're not going to go into an interview that way,
So maybe that trains you for the future for those situations.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I don't know, really good point, and I think that sorry,
go ahead, Ben.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Did you notice that as soon as it was announced
that you're clear to curse, that people started using curse
words or were they just still restrained restrain themselves.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
It was a zoom class, so nobody's talking anyway.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
What's the point then, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
And that ten minute video that you guys watched outside
of you learning that he wants to be the cool professor.
Did you What was the information as far as why
it's important.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
Well, it was actually a little bit interesting. It was
talking about how if somebody is doing a difficult task,
for example, like if you were to do a cold plunge,
somebody who's silent and like holding it all in won't
last as long as somebody that's like cursing and like
letting out like how difficult it is the.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Last long That's why you do it, Dan, Why that's
why I curse.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
That was one of the things. Same with like exercising.
If you're like running and you're cursing about how tired
you are, then you'll run longer.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
See, I thought it.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Was the opposite.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
I thought, when you like, you know, don't do those
things you you want you when you put negative energy
into the to the you know, atmosphere, it's not a
good thing, Like it makes you do things less.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
No.

Speaker 6 (05:34):
I read that if you stub your toe, you're supposed
to be like really let it all out, because if
you bottle it just makes it hurt more.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I also think I equate this to the conversation we
were having the other day where you you like grunting
at the gym, you know, you're letting it off, Like,
how would you know that?

Speaker 4 (05:53):
No time I've seen you with the gym, you didn't
even leave the locker room.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I'm a student, I'm observing, yes, so it's almost like
you're getting it all out.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
If I heard that sound at the gym, I would
call nine one one. This guy's dying act.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
This guy, Hey, Garrett, you're gonna make a point a
second ago? What's going on?

Speaker 7 (06:15):
I think I understand why the teacher wants to do it,
because the most annoying thing for a teacher from my friends,
as they expressed, is when you're in a classroom or
on a zoom and you ask a question and the
entire room is just silent. You know, it's like, hey,
anybody want to say anything? Anyone And it's like being
a comedian and like, hey, this thing on and no
one wants to say anything. So by saying hey, you

(06:36):
can curse whatever you want kind of like lets that
guard down a little bit, I feel, But maybe that's
just my idea.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Yeah, I mean, unfortunately I didn't stay in the class
long enough to find out answer.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Now, but do you have to take the class again
or no.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
I can take some variation of it, not necessarily that
specific one. And I don't want to be on zoom
for three hours and try to learn it doesn't work.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Yeah, Hey, how is your experience here as an intern
on our show so far?

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Anything you want to He's got a fabulous coat today,
by the way, not that that has anything to do
with his internship, but I'm.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Just saying, when you say it's fabulous, I mean is it?
Is it moving the meter at all?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I mean, are you? Are you liking this?

Speaker 5 (07:16):
You? No, It's been really really fun, and I think
the most important part has been meeting everyone and getting
to know kind of the dynamics. And I'm feeling very
lucky to be surrounded by this type of group that

(07:37):
is very good, kind and supportive.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
We do hear that most interns because we are this
is a great place to work. Except for that one
intern that busted us.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
I don't know days past. Some disgruntled intern talk about
them later. I have no idea who it is. Anyway, Well,
there any more questions for Ben?

Speaker 6 (07:58):
Yeah? What do you like the most out the dynamic here?

Speaker 5 (08:01):
I like that, I mean, I guess This goes against
literally what we've been talking about the entire time, but
it is very comfortable and people can be themselves. And
if you have like a question, nobody's looking at you
like why are you asking that? Everyone's just trying to
get you to feel comfortable.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
And yeah, I got a question.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
What other classes A you're taking?

Speaker 5 (08:25):
I am taking Advanced Topics in Film. I am taking
Spanish too, and I am taking Television Field Production.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Wow, okay, okay, go back to the first what topics?

Speaker 3 (08:41):
What?

Speaker 5 (08:41):
What was that Advanced Topics in Film? It's the last
requirement I need for my film major.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
What is that cover? He looks excited.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
So each section of that course is a different advanced topic.
And our advanced topic is experimental film, which is a
little I okay, I'm not I.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Just don't know what's experimental.

Speaker 5 (09:08):
You want to know what it is. It is taking
the physical film, like the celluloid film, and like drawing
on it, like it's basically film without the camera. So
then you projected and like an image does show up,
but it's just like.

Speaker 7 (09:25):
It's like a filter on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
You're paying for this?

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Is this a class? Why is this a clam class?

Speaker 5 (09:31):
I don't know. I don't know why this is. I
don't know why this is the advanced topic because nobody
in that room is wants to do that as a career.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
But there's got to be a point behind why it's there.
I'm wondering who put it there and why.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Somebody asked in my class literally last week he was
like what what are they?

Speaker 7 (09:49):
Like?

Speaker 5 (09:49):
Literally, what are these? She was like, well, maybe you'll
find out by the end of the cour.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Where's that going in life?

Speaker 6 (10:04):
Have it made?

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Man?

Speaker 6 (10:04):
They have really good yet there you go. They get
college paid for. Sometimes that's not the end game.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Well you don't know that.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Well, if I want to want a Starbucks, that's game
for me.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
All right, Okay, you know, maybe the answers will show
themselves before the end.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Let us say no, all.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
Right, well that was great now that we know Ben,
Ben's okay with us cursing here, but not in the
zoom class.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Okay, Ben, everyone and that fibit us coach that Daniel
is now going to tell me more about all right,
can we say you fine, get out of here. Let's
get out of here.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
