Speaker 1 (00:01):
Get your hands together, and we're gonna start to party.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Start.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
I'm running a party, the Elvis Duran after Party. I'm Andrew,
I'm Diamond.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
And we have with us interned Ben and Steph who
now works with us in the podcast network and for
this after party. You may have been seeing a lot
about Love Island and you may not know anything about it,
and yesterday was the finale, So I figured this was
going to be the too long didn't read study guide
(00:38):
that you can listen to to get refreshed on everything
and be able to talk about it today because yesterday
was the finale. And might I add one of the
greatest scenes happened last night in reality TV history. But
let's start from the beginning. Okay, Love Island the general premise,
a bunch of islanders on there, all looking for love
(01:00):
and to find connections. Bombshells enter the villa to try
and break up the connections. You need to be coupled
up with somebody in order to survive eliminations. It's a
whole thing. The winner of the show gets one hundred
thousand dollars that they can choose to split with the
person that they pick or not. I did not know
that part. Until last night, I.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Didn't wow, are you yea guys? Oh wow?
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, this was the first one. I saw it to
the end.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Okay, Diamond and I are veterans here.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Do you know what I thought about?
Speaker 5 (01:28):
Has there been a season where someone didn't split the money?
I don't think that's ever happened though, So it's not
that bad that you didn't know that nobody's ever done that.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
But I was convinced that let's go with couple number one,
Houdah and Chris. I was convinced that that was going
to happen. I really thought Hooda and Chris were going
to win. Huda was an original person who came in.
She was one of the first people on the cast.
She made it all the way to the end, did
not find a connection. She in fact broke up with
her connection in the finale when they devoted them to
(01:58):
go through to the finale because they thought they were
a genuine couple, and they wound up breaking up at
this dramatic dinner that had candles floating in the water
and a singer coming out and singing.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
The singer before we talk about that.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Note, I just want to make people.
Speaker 5 (02:16):
I want people to understand they weren't a genuine connection
at all. And also, this has never in Love Island history.
No one has ever made it to the final and
broken up on the show. I'm sure that there have
been people who wanted to end their connection, but they're like,
we're in the final, let's just wait until we leave here.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
They couldn't even make it through dinner.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Yeah, and more controversial, Shelley and Ace. They were together,
they were an original couple. They were voted outank.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Goodness, are you insane? No, they are not real insane.
I really want you to know, Stephanie, I'm I'm clocking you.
That's well, I'm saying on business Oh wow, and you're
mad because.
Speaker 7 (03:03):
If we want to talk about not real connections, talk
about not real connections. Nan fiction industry.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Planted placed second. Amaya and Brian one for you listening.
You have no idea what's going on. Amaya was a bombshell.
She came in America, fell in love with her. She
found a connection after two failed other hookups with this
wonderful man named Brian. They won the show last night.
Thank god they did, because literally any of the other
(03:32):
three couples the show would be over to play it. Plainly,
there would just be no point in making an eighth season.
Speaker 7 (03:41):
In my opinion, I think that the only other couple
that could have won would have been Iris and Pepe.
I voted for I know you did, but they just
don't do it for me enough to have been satisfactory
as a winner. Yeah, because again, they just kind of
(04:01):
seem like okay with each other.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
Yeah, they don't like each other, Like okay, Steph, can
we ask why did you vote for Iris and Pepe?
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (04:11):
So I actually did not vote for them in the
sense of love and what love violent actually is. It
was just like this season was so different compared to
the others because of the mean girls as I call them, Sierra, Alandra, Shelley.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
You're losing me.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
They they're voting out. They're good connections. So I was like,
you know, what, they should pair up together. I made
a TikTok about this. They should pair up together just
for the sake of trying to win, and then they
can go back to their real connections.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Never yeah, I want you to think about the fact
that you just called I don't give a fuck about Sierra,
so let's just see that there. But she is a
woman of color, and I think that it's very easy
for us to pay women of color as mean girls.
When I'm gonna be honest with you, guys said this
earlier when the mics were off.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Y'all motherfuckers would.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
Hate me and my friends. If you think that their
mean girls. Please explain to me one thing Shelley did
that was mean girl? Ask I really want to know.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Well, Shelley just didn't seem to stand up for the
other girls in the villa, and she kind of just
stayed with them in order to get the screen time
and everything, and she did vote out Hannah with them.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
She voted out Hannah. Great. How does that?
Speaker 5 (05:19):
How does her voting now Hannah make her any different
from anyone on these past seasons who have just voted
somebody off?
Speaker 1 (05:26):
What makes her a mean girl? I don't understand that.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
Like I thought that you were gonna say the whole
Hoodah and Shelley thing well, which I also don't think
that she was a mean girl. She saved Huda by
not ripping into her ass the night of this challenge
that if you don't watch, I honestly wouldn't even want
you to watch because it may bring up too much
emotion for you.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
But like to be honest, the standing on Business challenge
was the biggest flop in my opinion. I don't understand
why you have to have a challenge where you say
everything that you hate about a person. I thought that's
what movie Night was for, where they show like little
clips temptland esque, Like that's what I was looking for.
I'm not looking for you to go up there and
air your grievances on somebody. That to me is where
it like you're kind of like grasping at something at
(06:12):
that point for drama, and I mean they definitely got
it because Amia cried and ran off.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
I think that's when she won the show.
Speaker 7 (06:19):
Honestly, was that challenge because I think that's when everyone
realized that, like she was just never gonna change and
she was always gonna be herself no matter who was
coming in and out of the villa. So I think
that after that all happened, as she coped up with Brian,
it was just it was meant to be.
Speaker 6 (06:38):
For her to win. I feel like that was the, yeah,
the tipping point.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I think for me, Iris and Pepe cute if they won.
I don't know. I feel like there was never really
star quality in that connection.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
To me, they're just nice to look up and well,
can we just be honest. They don't like each other.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
I don't were like a Nick and Landria thing to
me where they're just doing it.
Speaker 8 (07:02):
To say, if Iris started crying when and this was
my same issue with Hannah you cried so hard when
Charlie went home, no one was holding a gun to
your head, Go home, go home.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I would have sent her ass home to You're not
about to sit here and cry like we're making you
stay here, go home.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
And Iris isn't like the other girl, so I don't
know why she would start thank you.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
She was like any other girls girls. They weren't really friends,
like you know, they didn't build a connection.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
Yeah, but then also like Iris, if you wanted TJ.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
So bad, go to funk home.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Nobody is Pepe too, you vote him h best boyfriend material,
A good boyfriend would have went home with the girl
that he wanted to be with.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
What is wrong with everyone? I don't understand. I don't
think we're watching the same show.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
What.
Speaker 6 (07:59):
I think it's crazy as anybody crying over TJ.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
I was so upset, Steph, You're really, your hot takes
right now are just they're hurting.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
No, I want Iris to go back to TJ and
then they're gonna end up together.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, okay, she could have left with me.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
No, but I'm glad that he didn't make her leave
with him, because then there would have been resentment.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
She wasn't gonna win anyway. It doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
What's going on and you as a as a watcher,
I'm really shocked.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I thought this was a take that Andrew was gonna do.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
I I thought if Irish and Pepe won, I would
have been like, eh, okay, I mean, and then their date,
like I tuned out honestly when they said that like
the boat, he drove the boat. We never saw him
driving the boat. And also they went snorkeling. Did they
anchor the boat? I have questions about who was driving
this boat and how it got there and how they
(08:52):
enjoyed this beautiful Fiji date with so many things that
I have questions on. Yeah, that's what my mind I
went to, which I mean I tuned out on their date.
I also tuned out on Nick and Orlandria. My friend
Michelle who was on Survivor, she was on that exact
same beach, climbed that exact same mountain and was like,
they are sweating their asses off because it's so damn hot,
(09:14):
and I could see it right now, the messages that
they got at the top of the mountain with Nick
and Orlandria's date.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
I was like, come on, come on, it's so hard
to watch this episode with all these fake couples, which
was like, sit home the day before, please, I'm waiting
so shocked.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
I have to tell you I made a TikTok because
like I do like a little recap sometimes, or like
I like will speak on controversial stuff from the show,
and I spoke on how Ace and Shelley are still
even in the show like a few episodes ago, and
their fan base came for me.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
I think they're a real couple, like honestly, say what
you want about them, like, because I didn't see it
at first, and I did have that exact same take
and I went to Diamoon with it and she obviously,
as you could see, have no time for it. But
then watching the show, they really like this past week
got me and I'm like, I hope they make it
to the finale, and even if they don't, win. I'd
be fine with them coming in second place, because I
genuinely thought they had a connection.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
I'm just concerned about Ace for her, like not so
much Shelley, but I just don't think Ace is a
good guy.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Oh wow, that's crazy for her.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I think I balance each other.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
I think if there was anything that Ace showed this
entire season is that he did not play about Shelley.
Him saying what he did and going about the the
Amaya situation the way that he did was solely based
off of her trying to rip into Shelley, unwarranted by
the way nobody talks about the fact that Amaya went
in on Shelley when Shelley had nothing to do with
what Ace wanted to do and didn't want to do
(10:41):
for Amaya, that was weird. It's weird. So when I
say that, people would really hate me in the real
world if I was on a show, they would hate
me because I would be clocking bitches left and fright.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
I would have looked at Amaya.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
So shut the fuck up. You're mad because he likes me.
What do you want me to do about that?
Speaker 1 (11:00):
That at me?
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Well, he's planning a yoga day and you can't even
get a coffee.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Relax.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Honestly, I'm so happy this season is over.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Me too, I am too, because it got me riled up.
I'm shocked.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
I'm shocked such a commitment.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
It really is five seas a week.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
I've willingly committed before, but the way that people were
going in this year just about connections that were non existent.
I say it again, it may. It put me in
a space where I just can't stop talking about it
because I need to change everyone's mind.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Yeah, I mean listen, if you're at the water cooler today,
if they still even have those at offices, just know
you if somebody says, oh, who like oh Amaya and Brian,
you could be like, yes, Amaya was great. You can't
say that because she was the fan favorite and it
was a good winner. If Huda and Chris are brought up,
you could say, oh my god, that scene of them,
(11:53):
Oh I hit the mic of them in the breakup scene, whoa,
that was crazy? And a love Island first Iris and
Pepe exactly, Nick and Orlandria. That was a cute moment
that they had. But they're probably better best friends, right,
And there you go. You're all caught up and.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
If you really want to guy, your coworkers be like,
are there any hood rats? That's what we're calling you,
And we have one in the room right here, and
it's me. You're a hood rat of course no.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
And I'm a part time hood rat.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
It depends on the day.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Honestly, she lost me. She lost the plot. I was
with people who were friends. Yesterday I had a finale
party who were Hood of fans, and the whole time,
I'm like, I just cannot see this point of view.
I could at some point during the season she had
me for like an episode or two where I'm like,
I'm going to give her the redemption. She coupled up
with Chris All Goodwill lost expeditiously.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Yep, wow, yeah, yeah, Yes.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I just don't think she's ready for a relationship. I've
said this, I'll say it again. She's not looking for
a boyfriend. She is looking for a child. She wants
to baby her man, and unfortunately that is somebody that like,
she's gonna find him, and he's gonna be like in
his sixties and geriatric. That's where she's gonna find her man.
That's all I said.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
Also, don't forget about the fact that she has continuously said,
she said so many times that she has no friends
in the real world, and I want everyone to think
about that. And this is why she behaved the way
that she did. Within the show We're Forgetting, this woman
came in and verbally abused a man that she claimed
to like so much, used being a mom as a crutch.
(13:34):
Every time someone was mad at her, she would say,
I don't know if you know this, but I'm like, girl,
you know how many single mothers are in this world?
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Back it up? Then what else did she do?
Speaker 5 (13:45):
She sat on the face of a man who was
in a couple with someone who she claimed was her
sister in there clock that, Well.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Here's the thing, and I will say this and then
we probably should wrap up, because anybody who doesn't know
anything about Love Island is probably just like this hood
of girls just awful.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
But that's and that's what I want them to take
away from.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
But maybe their hood rides. Maybe they're like, that's not
so bad anyway, this whole sisterhood angle. I find that
very interesting. Why do the girls always feel like with guys,
there is no like, I don't know the guys all
got along, but they would never be like you're my
brother and I'm looking out for you. With the girls,
(14:26):
I almost feel it's a manipulation tactic that they used
to be like it's a sisterhood, and I feel like
that's not fair because just saying iris, if she's not
a part of that, then it's kind of just like
this just random person is just watching, Like just call
yourselves friends. You don't need to like have each other's
backs to the end of time. That's just weird in
(14:47):
my opinion. Also, you've known this person for a.
Speaker 7 (14:49):
Week literally, like if you wanted to be a girl's
girl going big brother, you know what I mean? Like
that's me, Like what is this girl's girl? Like you're
it's love Island. You're trying to find love if it
didn't work out or one girl, it could still work
out for you, but you can't go after it because
you met her two days ago. Like it's it's so stupid.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yeah, I just don't. I think it's unfair that like
they were they were even saying it the first week,
like we're best friends, Like this is a sisterhood. It's
like you've been there a week.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
How is that a sisterhood are their best friends at home,
not like.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Pissed. I'd be like, I have some things to say
when you come home.
Speaker 7 (15:27):
Because that's because these friends of yours are stealing your man.
Speaker 6 (15:30):
I'm taking your man.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
I'm not taking your man. Went home with no one.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Well, So again, Love Island, Brian and a Maya, congratulations.
I think Amaya is going to get a bunch of
brand deals and she will be the star.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
So many opportunities, so.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Many opportunities, and she's very gratitudely for it as well.
But yeah, so that's a quick Love Island finale update.
Hopefully you can talk to your young co workers about
it now with confidence. So thank you so much for
joining and I guess that's it.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Justice for Shelley and I.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Oh please
Speaker 1 (16:11):
The Elvis Duran after party
