Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're gonna do this in three two one blast off?
What would you talk about on your on your podcast?
Phone presents? Fifteen minute morning showy do die? And it's

(00:21):
not the twelve minute, it's like the thirteen year, the
fourteen It's a fifteen minute morning show podcast. I'm Greg
g and that is Garrett. Yep, Garret. You will not
get it. Yes, indeed he do die? From me? No,
but you do you love that word? Yes, indeed you die? Yes,
did you die? Here's the deal, you guys know, when
you hear Greg tan Garrett, there's only one thing and

(00:44):
that means there's a bigger name online to not really
almost ran morning show is interviewing. No one's being an
interview with the rest of the show. Realizes that the
boss is away. What they're out of here? Hold on
a minute, Hold on a minute. Are you telling me, Garrett? Yes,
that the two of us are sitting here right now.

(01:06):
Everybody else is like probably halfway home because they don't
want to work, which is odd because normally, what kind
of shit is that. You gotta be kidding me. Yeah, No,
that's the truth. That is unbelievable. Man. It's funny, you
know when you step in someone else's shoes. You always
hear the term, you know, you should try walking in

(01:26):
someone else's shoes, a mile in someone else's shoes. Nate's
actually doing that right now. Now. Normally Nate would be
hanging out with us and doing the fifteen minute morning shows.
But after four hours of guiding the the Elvis durand Ship,
Oh no, we're all in this together. No apparently not
it you and I. But what I mean really, you

(01:47):
don't get a chance to pick and choose when you
want to work or when you don't want to work.
You have to be a part of everything. Like like
Chevy Chase said, we're all in this together. Well, he's
not here, nor is anybody else. It's just you and me, buddy. Well,
what the hell are we going to talk about for
fifteen minutes? For real? Now we've got thirteen minutes left.
We've kind of made, uh somewhat of a career out

(02:09):
of it. I'm just figuring it all out. Well, today
is Ali's birthday. So Ali, um, she is the new
web person digital director. Yeah, she's our she has a
new title. I always gotta make it sound sound better
than initially is. Like when you worked at the gas station.
You were in a petroleum engineer. Goe, you sound you
sound more bigger than you actually are. That's right. When

(02:31):
you are a teacher in college, you're no longer a teacher,
you are a professor. Or those those uh, those those
things on your elbows when you're with your velvet jacket,
that's right. So Ali is our what is she? Director?
Digital digital director? Digital directors Ali? So Ali is celebrating
your birthday today, and uh, the whole morning show we

(02:52):
always wait until the very end of the show to
bringing a birthday cake. It's your birthday and we all
sing Happy Birthday, YadA, YadA YadA. But I gotta tell you, man,
it's time to shake it up. I am done with
the happy Birthday song. I think that the happy Birthday
song is so played out. Is this where you're gonna
bring in your Benigan song? I'm listen. I know that
you've heard me rant about it before, But think about this, Garrett.

(03:15):
The Happy Birthday song has been around for ages. Why
because it's universally known. I know that, but it's so
boring at this point. It's not boring that it's your birthday.
It's boring that that's the song that we that we sing, yes,
happy birthday to you. In comparison, your Bennigan's song when
you clap and then you sway and you sing, that

(03:37):
is annoying as well. The course of time, how what
do I mean? Okay, but the course of time is
not nearly as long as the happy Birthday song and
happy birthday. When you're singing happy Birthday, you're not clapping,
you're not having to do a dance. And when you
do your Bennigan's which you should do it right now, right,
but I will, But doesn't that doesn't that bring a
little bit more excitement into the song? So let's just

(03:58):
say so we had a birthday yesterday, we had a
birthday today, and imagine clapping every time you have to
sing this birthday? So okay, so let's imagine this are
so here we so exhibit A is the happy birthday song,
which we all know. So let's do it for Ali, right,
Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you. Birthday. You

(04:20):
don't go see did you see what you did? Already?
You already like was like because everybody knows it, right,
you're over it, But no, I'm over the fact that
you're trying to make your birthday song happen. Okay, now
here my birthday song. It goes like this, happy happy clap. No,
you clap, you clap the entire time because that's what
you do. Okay, three to one, Happy happy birthday on

(04:43):
this your special day. Hey, happy happy birthday. And this
is what we say, Hey, happy happy birthday. And you're stopping.
You go and you and you put your hands together
like your interlock your fingers, and then you do like
a wave and you go, may all your dreams come
true like that, like in a wave. Arms, everything are
in a wave here rocking a baby, May all your

(05:05):
dreams come true. And then you go back to the
clapping and you go, happy happy birthday. And then you
would say from the Elvis Duran Morning Show to you,
and then everybody would clap. So there's so much more
than the original birthday song is quicker, yes, quicker, but
again you're not you're not having to do a physical activity.

(05:26):
But why do you want to gloss over somebody? That
happens once band of the day, and it's like, outside
of the person celebrating their birthday, no one really wants
to sing happy Birthday. Well, so for you to go,
you know what, it's time to incorporate choreograph dance moves
into singing happy Birthday for a coworker. I'm trying to
jag it up. You're asking for too much, man, I'm

(05:47):
not trying to reinvent the wheel. The wheel would be
like making somebody have a different birthday. I'm just saying
that the song yourself happy Birthday is gotten all. You're
trying to reinvent the wheel in the sense of redoing
a established birthday song that people just come along just
to get through it catching even then, let me ask

(06:08):
you something. Okay, fine, off the heels of this happy
birthday conversation. Hold right, happy Happy Birthday from the morning
show to you. Imagine doing you got fifteen people here,
that's fifteen about the energy in the room, the loud
first time, first time, like anything in life would be great. Okay.
Then now let me ask you something. By time eight,

(06:28):
we'd be like, oh my god. Okay, attached to the
happy birthday conversation. So then you let's take it out
of the here. You are a person that is not
looking for change. Really, you're looking for Everything's okay, It's
not broke, don't fix it. It's it's a silly song.
It's like it's like waking up in the morning and
putting on your shoes. You're like, why do I Why

(06:50):
should I go downstairs and put the shoes on when
I just put them on right by my bed and
I'm good to go, right, Well, don't you want to
change it up? Maybe you go downstairs? You have all people,
miss I was built on the foundation of creature, of
habit now says Okay, I'm breaking the mold and I'll
go against the grind and sing heavy birthday. And that
would mean also that you like, like, for instance, you

(07:10):
have a car, and your car is getting up there
in mileage, but it still runs really well. So you're like,
why am I getting traded in and go get something
new when my car clearly is running just fine. But
here's the thing. Your birthday song isn't new. If it
was a brand new song that that someone just created
literally a week ago, and you know what, it's gonna

(07:31):
take the world by storm, right. But this is if
more and more people start hearing about my birthday, saw
yours it's been again's birthday song. Okay, So there's a restaurants. Right,
it's not around anymore. And it's one of those. It's
like a T G I Friday's. It's like Ruby Tuesdays exactly.
First day, you know, mud slides. We'll get you your

(07:52):
lunch in fifteen minutes or less, or it's free. One
of those, one of those places the buttons on your shirt.
You question, you question how fast they make the food? Yes, right,
you send it back. You always wonder if they come
back and they're spitting it. That type of place. So
I worked at a ben Agans. It was called ben Agan's.
I worked at a ben Agan's for about maybe three
weeks because I was appeasing my mom because I used

(08:13):
to work at a gas station, which I loved working
at the gas station. Birthday, at the guest station. You know,
at the gas station, you got beers, you hung out.
I had cut off shorts, nice T shirt, I got
dirty who cares? And I hit on some some good
looking girls that came in there at Bennigan's. Not the case.
Black shoes, black pants, Benigan's shirt with a with a

(08:34):
you know, with a button on that says my name
is Greg. And you gotta wear like, you know, an
apron and a hat and some more buttons and forced
to sing a horrible birthday song. Right. So there they
made this new song, and that's where I got it from,
and I've taken it from there and I've brought it
with me in life. I think it's time we change it.
Let'sten do it one more time. Happy Birthday. I'm this

(08:57):
your special day. Hey, happy happy birthday. And this is
what we say, Hey, Happy happy birthday. May all your
dreams come true. Happy happy birthday from the Morning Show
to you. Hey, that's happy again, right out of the
bat first maybe handful of times awesome days to hear

(09:18):
that song rather than Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday
to you, Happy birthday, dear Ali, Happy birthday? Do you okay?
Everybody get ready to clap every And you're asking for

(09:40):
way too much for something so so miniscule in the
sense of everyone coming together to celebrate. By the way,
so are we're talking about our digital director Ali is
celebrating our birthdays? Um? You know, and we got pity
pity birthday invite the night before last night. Um, and
it says that you're attending. No, so I missed. I'm

(10:01):
not going. You're re sending your your I'm not I'm
not telling anybody because I'm said you're going here, but
I'm not. Now you're not going to show you at least,
I'm never going you at least owe her something or nothing.
You said you were going. I clicked it to clear
it because they sent an invite and I am so
tired from this past weekend that my voice can't even
come back because you smoke so much. I don't smoke.

(10:23):
My voice is just like hired. It's like my voice
is just going, I want to go to bed. Your
voice is also saying stop. Some you did smoke this weekend.
You smoked over the because we partied a lot, because
for some reason, partying and smoking goes hand in hand. Yes,
I don't. I'm sorry, but it's like your birthday. So anyway,
So I am not going to the alley thing at all.

(10:45):
I'm not going. In the mass email to about fifty
five people, it says Greg t will be there. Who
else did it say? Look I'm yawning on the microphone.
Who else to say? Who else? Who else? It gonna
be there? I gotta check. I'm not gonna be there.
What are you checking right now? It says, you're going.
I'll call Ali right now and let her know you check.
Keep talking to Okay as you go get Ali. Yeah. Nonetheless,

(11:13):
Gregg is about to tell her on her birthday that
he's not attending. She's celebrating her birthday. That's what she's doing.
I'm gonna make him sing his birthday song too. Just
tell her to come in, then come finish the come
finish the podcast. Ali. Oh my god, no one understands

(11:34):
English the morning show. So you know, we work here
the radio station, and there's sound we have. They're having
a meeting right So now they're having a meeting that
we're not a part of. So they're having a meeting
and they don't want to work. Man, this morning show
needs to be straightened out. Just because Elvis isn't here,
they don't get a chance to just do whatever they want.
It's not the way it works. You gotta work here.
This is why I'm going places, because I've earned my

(11:57):
keep because I'm work. I'm just saying, so I'm going places,
cold places, gold places. I'm not gonna stay here and
be content. I'm going places I am because I work hard,
because I use up every single minute to do something.
They don't want to do something. They want to sit
in the studio. Now they're gonna have a meeting all
because they're tired as well. Nobody is fully recouped from

(12:18):
the Elvis durand wedding. Nobody. I mean, my voice is shot.
It just shot the ship completely. I did as much
parting as you. My voice isn't as shot the ship.
But I was yelling and screaming and scooping it up.
I was going crazy. I was. There's Danielle. Danielle, come
on here, speaking in a closed studio to a soundproof studio.
Come here, Danielle, come in here. Oh you got you

(12:40):
got the hand. She's in another studio. So I pound
on the glass to ask her to come over here,
and she gave me the like Cinderella handwave, like not now,
not now, Like what she's doing important things? I told you, man,
this is you know. The boss is away. Everyone's getting
their issue done so they can get the hell out
of here. But what about us, Garrett, Why don't we

(13:01):
get a chance to get up and get out of here?
We get here first, we're the first people in and
the last to lead. We will we get here and
we do a five am pre morning show. So here
in the New York New York City Tri State area,
Garrett and I little tidbit here, Garrett and I go
on the radio before the entire morning show, we have
our own one hour show which is called the five

(13:24):
am Pre Morning Show, which, by the way, after this podcast,
I have to have a meeting about why without you?
Without me? Oh my god, well it's now an not
part of that meeting either. Oh, here comes me, Here
comes Gandhi. Hey, next thing, you guysn't show up, you know,
front of your cheap a little bit? Do some work
around here? Well, you guys are carrying on meetings. Let's

(13:45):
turn up some microphones here, jump on. What are you
guys talking about? Actually we're talking about something really good.
When he first, he's convinced he's the only one that
does work around the one. My question is your microphone
on time check too? Want to can you see me?
Can you hear me? All right? So yeah, alright, so listen,
here's the thing. We only have a minute left, literally

(14:05):
sixty seconds. Okay, thank you for giving me your sixty
seconds time anytime. Here's my question, aren't you tired of
the old happy birthday song. Agree right, thank you. Now
you're time to change. You're ready to sing great tea song.
Every time we have a birthday, I'm here, he goes
happy happy to clap, happy, happy birthday on this your

(14:26):
special day. Hey, happy happy birthday. And this is what
we say, Hey, happy happy birthday, waiting out their fingers together.
And now you're gonna make like a wave and you go,
may all your dreams come true. And then back to
the clap happy happy birthday from the Morning Show to you. Hey,
I like that. Now do that fifteen times by the

(14:46):
fourth time every happy Do you understand it's time to
change the morning Happy, happy birthday song? Can I just
say that used to be the Ruby Tuesday birthday song?
Yea room t will do this song on Kay, that's
that's wrong. That's a that's cloth so that's yeah. Yeah,

(15:21):
it's hard to change. That's a
