Speaker 1 (00:02):
What would you talk about on your on your podcast
presents fifteen minute Morning Show. Well, thank you to those
of you who showed up for the fifteen minute Morning
Show podcast. Yeah, you're welcome the puppies to be here
to Gandhi's down the hall playing with the puppies. She

(00:26):
just walked into the room. How do you bring a puppy? Well, here,
we're on here, come to the microphere. I let them
lick me all over my face and I'm itchy. Hey,
so did you bring us a puppy? She knows? Does
she know that we're doing a podcast? Can someone tell her? Yeah, yeah,
you're on the fifteen minute Morning Show podcast. Okay, you

(00:47):
gotta tell her, scary wake up sister. Just seriously, So,
what kind of puppies were doing? I don't know what
kind of puppies? Do we miss? Some mutley little puppies.
They're very cute, though really soft. One of them was
white with like a black match on his eyes. So puppies,
so cute. And then I don't really even know what
the other ones were, but they were adorable. None of
them have any names yet. There that fresh. They smell

(01:08):
like little puppy ain't gonna take one. I want to
take one so bad, but I don't think I can.
I just don't have a life that would support a dog. Daniel,
you need a puppy. I have two cats. I do
not need a puppy. Just eventually. Oh yeah, there's just
something about puppies that really is the only thing I
have to say about that. It was the happiest moment
of like maybe my year. I'm not positive, right, wait, wait,

(01:32):
hold on, So Dave Brody just walked in. Brody walked
out of the room and said, hey, guys, I'm going
to the bathroom. I'll be right back. We knew we
were going. You went to the puppies. You know, I
did go to the bathroom. So I was telling the truth,
right for the puppies. I don't blame all right. So
around a fifteen minute morning show podcast table, they're scary.
There's freshly licked Gandhi, there's Dave Brody, there's a Garrett,

(01:52):
and there's Danielle and I have to take this phone call.
I'll be right back bye, she's gonna play. The podcast
is like a part time gig for all of us.
I can't believe that. Well, so right before we started
recording this. This. This is by the way, Tuesday, right um,
novembery right before we started recording this, I was online

(02:15):
looking at all the weather forecast because I'm in Santa
Fe in Mexico, and I'm supposed to come home for
Thanksgiving on Thursday morning, and I don't know, it looks
like it's gonna be just walloped with snow all up
and down the Midwest and all of this area where
we are another Rockies and stuff. What would you do
if you're stuck there, You're just gonna enjoy. You're gonna
go out with some friends. Yeah. No, I've got plenty
of friends here. Uh, but you know, I'm just supposed

(02:38):
to go see a magic show Saturday. I think I'll
be home by Saturday. But no, you know, I gotta
tell you. I I spent Christmas here in this house
alone one year, and uh, Alex couldn't come out till
the next day because he had to work. And I
did great. I don't I don't have a problem being
by myself on a holiday. I'm good. There's lots to eat.
I'll drink until I pass out. You know, watch the Crown.

(02:59):
Have you ever traveled on the most the busiest travel
day of the year, arguably because Thanksgiving and the day Thanksgiving.
Even Thanksgiving they say is the worst travel day. But
I don't have you ever traveled Thanksgiving and Christmas? To me,
I've traveled on both, and there it's those are the
easiest days to travel. Thanksgiving Eve is the very busy day.

(03:20):
But as a matter of fact, if you can, If
you can't, oh bless you, you must be allergic to
a good travel tip. Yes, Um, every time I've traveled
on Christmas and Thanksgiving, I mean, the the airport's a
ghost town, typically is. And so if you can travel
on those on those days, do it, you should. I
will if I can. And the prices are usually a

(03:42):
little bit better on those days too, a little bit. Yeah,
we saw the cutest service dog on the flight. Um,
there was this beautiful brown dog and I'm like, you
know something I'm like, is that it really is that
a service dog? Like is it? Or is that more
of a dog that's there for pleasure and they're just
trying to get a free run on the like if
the dog is not in a cage or in a

(04:03):
you know, some kind of container, the dog is it's
a service dog and had a special vest on it
said service dog a special vest you can you can
buy those. It was a Walmart greeter. He couldn't his
dog wanted to smuggle it in the building and then
return the vest. What Yeah, he away. He wanted sorry

(04:24):
to come in. So we went and got him like
a service dog vest put it on, brought him in.
Sawyer hung out here for a little while, and then
he took the best office. I don't know, you know what,
I've never ever cool. I've never ever been given grief
for bringing Max to the to the office building. They
did one time. One time some guy who's no longer
with us gave me trouble and I said, well, you know,

(04:44):
he's coming with me. I'm sorry if you don't like that,
you know, And and that was I told his bosses
said come on, and he said, you're fine, just be cool. Yeah.
I love I love it when dogs are around. I
think it's it's better for everyone. But some people are allergic,
or some people just don't like dogs. They're terrified of dogs.
I get that some people are scared, but don't ruin
my day. Yuck, my yum. Did you have that man

(05:04):
fired for even questioning you. I didn't have anyone fired.
He just got fired. But it had nothing to do
with may happen to quit name day, same day at all.
I'm not in the world to fire people to have
them fired anyway. There's that. So what's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Garrett?
What is it like a family thing or just you

(05:24):
an Alley and the kids and the dog? What is
we have like a twenty five thirty person family dinner
on Staten Island and my dad deep fries of turkey
every year. He's getting better at it. Uh. For the
first few years we had the fire department show up,
which the mishap exactly and we thought the house was
gonna burn down. He's gotten better with it. But yeah,

(05:46):
deep frying a turkey. It seems to be the way
to go with the family. What about the Gandhi's. What
are you guys doing the Gandhi's. We're going to Tampa,
my sister and I to meet up with my mom
and dad, and then two of my aunts and uncles
will both be down there. Both couples will be down
there as well, and a couple of family friends. So
Indians Indians with the first Thanksgivings yes, my type of Indians. Well,
for us, the Brodie five will be in non matching

(06:10):
shirts at Disney World. I'm gonna have a turkey leg
on Thanksgiving at Disney That's my goal. That sounds awesome
and scary. Okay, we have a couple of stories, uh,
Scary and Daniel. Let's start with Scary. Scary. Is gonna
go pick up Aunt Millie? Yes at the home. Yes,
she's coming over to my parents house. Roseanne and Tony

(06:31):
are hosting Thanksgiving in Brooklyn for the Scaries. Knows that
her her sister in law has passed. Yes, Jenny, and
Jenny has passed. Have you told this story? I did not.
I told it for about about thirty seconds on The
Big Show and then on the Brooklyn Boys podcast we
mentioned it. Yes, yeah, but we didn't really get dive
into it. A family members missing and Aunt Millie she's

(06:53):
gonna notice, and they didn't want to tell her. I'm like,
you gotta tell her how they decided, And they originally
decided they were going to tell her at the table
while the turkey was being passed the stuffing by the way,
and Jennie died, Oh my god happened? Luckily, she knew
something was up. Last week. She looked my father dead
in the eye and said, what happened? Something's wrong, and
they my parents broke down and told her last week, thankfully.

(07:16):
Another story that we're working on is, uh, Nate, Nate
will be in the hospital for Thanksgiving, but I know
his parents will be around Ryan, so of course, and uh, Danielle, Danielle,
this this is gonna be your first holiday without your dad. Yes,
is this a major topic of conversation with you and
your family? Yeah, of course. We didn't want to do
something big, so we're doing something very small, just kind
of like my brother and sister and everything, and uh,

(07:38):
we're doing it at my house. But my niece who's three,
is having a very hard time with his passing, and
she's also um studying Thanksgiving at school, so we're trying
to make it a little bit special for her. So
actually I called my friends at Party City and they
sent me a Turkey onesie, So I will be wearing
the Turkey onzie and trying to make it a little

(07:58):
bit festive for her. But we ordered Boston Markets, so
we have Boston Markets so that nobody has to cook
and nobody has to worry about those sides are going
to be boh. I know, I can't wait for this
cream spinach. It'll be hard, you know, it is hard
the first especially the first one. But you're all there
with each other and uh yeah, but we you know,
he usually cut the carves the turkey, and there's certain

(08:20):
traditions that he has the toast and everything that's going
to be very strange, um and sad without him doing that.
This year, it definitely is going to be different. And
this year Carl at Boston Market will be Carl. He's
a great es. Yes. Number of years ago my kids
were in grammar school, they sent a letter home that said,

(08:40):
bring in uh food from your culture that you guys
eat on Thanksgiving other than the norm, and so I
we had nothing to bring in because my family is
very traditional. We don't really have culture. We just eat
the American stuff we don't have, which is the norm. Right,
Like my Italian friends they make lasagna on Thanksgiving, which
we don't do that. We don't make motsa balls on Thanksgiving.

(09:01):
I'm just wondering, like what Gandhi And we have a
couple of Italians in the room and Garretts and a
bunch of things like and and Elvis. Do your families
like do other than the turkey and stuffing in the cranberries,
do you add to it? Like do you Indian food
or do Yeah? So we'll have samosas, which are like
my favorite thing. They're basically like an Indian version of
a numbanada, filled with like potatoes and peas or chicken,

(09:21):
depending on what you want. They'll also do a type
of curry and then these must sala potatoes, which are amazing.
I would do anything to be at the Gandhi type.
That would be out of all these tables, that would
be the table I would want to go to. Can
you start with chakouderie board with super soda, fresh wood sails,
a million different cheeses. Everything that you misspronounced will be

(09:41):
on that point. Can you translate gobba goal for everyone?
It's it's a type of salami. That's till you need
to know. And for Halloween do you dress up like
a gob Is that capricola ham? Yes, Capricola yeah? Halloween?
The sharp kind of provolone and all these other Italian
cheese is followed by a ish of either macaroni and
I think this year, we're gonna do stuff shells and

(10:04):
then the turkey stuff. So we have to have all
the pasta and all that stuff. I love it. I
love the lasagna. See that's something I never did until
I moved to New York. I make a great lasagna,
and I normally make it for Thanksgiving, but this year
we're not doing that. So so every year my dad
dearly departed Dad, he we always had traditional Thanksgiving and
the only thing different is the stuffing or the dressing.

(10:24):
Is it's cornbread dressing, which is very Southern, I guess.
But anyway, um, he always wanted this pea salad. I mean,
it's it's Trader Parking good. You know. It's like it's
green peas, little chunks of little bitty things of cheese,
green peas cheese, and there's probably a creamy mayo e
thing going on and some chopped chopped you know, shallots whatever,

(10:47):
and then my mom would let it sit overnight and
it's just it's it's okay, but it's something we always
had and my dad just if it wasn't there, something's wrong.
So I was at Albertson's, the grocery store chain out
here in Sound. Yes, to day and I was just
you know, going through the prepared foods come find like
making big message in the kitchen, and there it was
a little, a little bitty think container of peace salad.

(11:08):
I'm like, oh my god, no one who has this? Yeah,
so it's downstairs. I'm gonna go have some for breakfast.
I will say this year, of all the years, I
am the most excited to see my family that I've
been in a long time, just because of all the
stuff that's going on around us. And I get very jealous.
Like the one area of my life where I get
very jealous is people who can see their families every

(11:30):
day and just go to lunch with their mom or
dad when they feel like it. I have always wanted that,
and since I was seventeen, I haven't lived near them.
And now all of this stuff that's happening, you know,
Danielle's father nating in the hospital, some other people who
are going through things. I just really want to hug
my mom and dad then go do it. I'm gonna
myself right between them. Maybe that's a that's a good
call for all of us to go go hug our

(11:51):
family members. And Scary's gonna work on Thanksgiving, well in
the evening after the turkey and all that stuff, like all,
he doesn't care we're starting it. We started like eleven
or noon, and then I go and at four o'clock
for thirty, I say, I gotta gos that really getting home.
She's coming to Macy com Mine and Uncle Joe we're
gonna drive her back. You might as well have a call.

(12:14):
He has a sergio of a lengthy jacket. I thought
it was a member's only jacket. Between the two, do
you guys get mad? Everyone I like, especially Alex and
his family, they don't do it until like five or six.
I'm like, I want my Thanksgiving one. I want it now.
We were like two or three. I feel like that's
a good time. We do it late to I'll just

(12:36):
come over at one o'clock. Food will be on the table,
and you gotta eat it late. If you started one,
I know my family will lead again at five. Leave
it out. You have to leave it out because I'm snowed. Okay,
so let's say I am snowed in here in Santa
Fe and I'm doing I'm doing Thanksgiving on my own,
so I probably won't find out till last minute that
I can't go right. Yeah, so I need to somehow

(12:58):
be prepared. Yet, you know, i'd don't want food to
go to waste if I don't eat. You know, I
gotta think this through. Frozen turkey Burger's a Cornish hand
frozen turkey burgers. There's something else that I didn't even
tell you, guys. Uh, my sister in law is do today,
like my brother is having is having a baby with
his wife, Sarah. Baby Jack is coming, and I believe

(13:20):
you're gonna going to ruin everyone's thanks may not be
there because if she's overdue, forget it, they're not coming.
Let's play the what IF's game? Scary alright, So Thanksgiving
comes around, your sister's there, so is Aunt Millie. You're
about to leave to go to your Macy's appearance. Your
sister's water breaks, you're the only person to take Yeah,
your sister in law's water breaks. You're the only person
to take her to the hospital. But you have to

(13:41):
make it to Macy's in time. What do you do?
And she'll ruin the seats in your new car? Say
not if you say, I've never talking to you again?
What do you do? Your family do at the hospital
or do you drop off and you would find away,
you would find a way. I think there's a hospital

(14:03):
near Macy's. You're putting these one situations. My brother is
there for her, he's busy, start, he's too busy eating. Well,
you have to do. You leave your car for all
of them, and then you uber to your Macy's parents,
and it's super important. What if she calls you and says, hey,
I'm in labor. I really want my whole family there.
Can you come? Can you forget this appearance and come

(14:23):
to the hospital my brother's first born. I would have to.
I mean, we're gonna name the We're gonna name the
baby after you. What if the baby starts crowning at
the dinner table, he's given birth, it's coming out. You
gotta leave. What do you do? Has already gone too far?
These are hypotheticals that will never ever happen. That's what
hypotheticals are. But have seconds baby now your brother and

(14:45):
sister both have babies. Is going to be on you? Yes? Him?
All the money he made that night fifteen minute morning
