Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, guys, this feels so weird.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
I feel like I've been in my bedroom with you
many many times. WHOA started?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Well, I need like an explanation many many times. Listen,
I am a big one. I am a big binger.
You definitely had me laughing. So I just feel like
a lot of shows and a lot of.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Things that I've been watching lately, you're in, especially when
you go back and watch program Sorry, so anyway.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Who was that who just said that?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Sorry, that was me.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Are you okay with having yeah? Are you okay with
having the zoom session recorded? Damon?
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Okay. I should start Maybe I should have started that way, yeah,
multiple times.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
That's not That's the way your interviews always kind of start,
isn't it.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
I feel like I'm not absolutely.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, I am not the first person that has said
that to you.
Speaker 5 (00:59):
You're the person I said, I mean, the first sentence
that it's been said.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
For sure. Yes, you'll be at the Emerald City Comedy
Club all this weekend and make sure people get tickets
for that. Man, I'm excited to have you come to town. Dude.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Yeah, man, I'm excited. I've been I went to Seattle.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
I want to say like six years ago, I did
some stand up out there at this other spot. I
think they closed it down already. It was the Parlor
or something like that. Yeah, yeah, it was a great spot.
But yeah, I remember Seattle being one of my top
comedic extravage places that I've been to.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh yeah, you'll like the Emerald City Comedy Club too.
It's it's new, it's new. Yeah, and it's big. It's
it's huge, so you pack it up. Yeah, it's great.
What else has been going on? Man? You just touring
now or what touring?
Speaker 5 (01:50):
I just I just wrapped season three of Shrinking. It's
this show on Apple TV. Harrison Ford stars in it.
Jason Siegel so much fun.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
It was.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
It's great working with a legend like that.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
This dude is just you know, he's eighty.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
Three, but he's like still really sharp, still quick on
his feet.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
I'm lying he's eighty three. He's eighty three, is.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Hell, that's my point.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Great show, but he's a legend, dude, he's so much Yeah,
that's he's all the way eighty three though.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
He's for sure eighty three and he's a pilot. Did
you guys know he's a pilot, no flying plaint since
he was fifty two years old. It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yeah, doesn't make you crashed twice?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
So oh whoa, Well, I mean you're a pilot at
eighty three. He's still say yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Eighty He knows that information is on the internet, though,
because he keeps asking me to fly with him.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
I'm like, bro, I'm like, is this youman?
Speaker 1 (02:52):
I like someone who has one hundred percent success rate
with those things?
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:56):
You know? Is this?
Speaker 4 (02:57):
She crawling out the rubble?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Like? No, do they do any of you like your
co stars or even like him Harrison Ford? Do they
ever come to your shows? Like doing your stand up
is a different experience.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
I've so the only person that's been to my shows
is the Jessica Jessica Williams. He's on She's on Shrinking
because she used to do stand up like she like
hosted show. So we've done shows together. But aside from that, No, no, wait,
Lamarne from New Girl he comes to my I've done
(03:31):
some his shows because he hosts shows, and I think
that's about it.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Okay, so you're gonna have a separate persona.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
You ever, it's a completely different persona than my TV
personas like, you know, this is like kind of me
at my ross, my most exciting, my most controversial.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
I would say, do you find it funny when people
come up to you after shows and they know you
from your other projects and then they say your stand up?
Speaker 5 (03:57):
And yes, yeah, yes, most people are coming to my
shows because of the shows that I've been on. They
don't come to my shows because I do end up.
They come in, they're pleasantly surprised. You're like, wow, man,
I didn't know you actually do stand up. Yeah, and
I've been doing it longer than I've been acting, so.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Right, right, yeah, I understand up as well. But I
get the same response kind of from the radio crowd though,
you know, because I was hearing on the radio and
stuff like that, and they'll come to my shows and
they're like, oh, I had no idea that you cussed
so much, you know what I mean. It's like, yeah,
well yeah, different venue, but yeah, it's always interesting to
see people's reaction to, like your stand up versus the
(04:33):
other things that you do. Have you ever considered have
you ever thought about giving up stand up, because you know,
acting and things like that. I know a lot of
people do, but.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
I've thought about it, but it's just such a I
feel like it's such a necessity. I feel like it
keeps you sharp. I feel like it helps you know
what people are laughing at.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Now.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
I think it's more intimate. I think it's more rewarding,
like immediate reward. You know, when you do a show
or a movie, you gotta wait for like a year
before it comes out, you know. So I really like
kind of the immediate reaction to the jokes. I like
being like with people, like feeling that energy, giving that
energy out. I just also love just a room full
(05:14):
of people laughing really hard. It's so much fun, you know,
just like you kind of you know, you're like, yeah,
you've been laughing.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
You kind of feel like, yeah, I'll make you laugh
harder if you want.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah, for the consent, Yeah, with your consent, yeah, yeah,
of course. Well you said controversial though, so what kind
of things are you talking about that's so controversial?
Speaker 4 (05:41):
It's not super controversial.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
I tend to not be political because I feel like
that's polarizing.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
I want everybody to have fun.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
Unless it's a really funny joke that both sides can
laugh at, I won't do them. But controversial in that
I will just go there, you know, like it'll be
a topic and I'll actually like delve into that topic,
whether it be marriage, whether it be family, and I
you know, I just like to do. You know, I'm
not like a clean comic, so you know, I'm not
(06:10):
like a Nate Bargassi kind of comic, which is not
a sluck at him.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
I think he's great. It's just I don't I can't.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Say a bad word, like, uh if when you know
this interview goes up on the show and on the internet,
if we use like a headline that's like Damon Wayne's
Junior slams Nate Bargatzi for not being a real comic,
you know, can we do something like that?
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Okay, great, because I'm a real comic. Not like I
love I love me.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
It's just as as a book in the airport.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
I'm just like, he's great. I know he's killing it.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
He's great.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
But it's just funny how that you'll say something.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
With one of his with one of his features. It's
a little person really funny as well. And I was
just like kind of envious, like I would love to
eventually do that, to be like a clean comic because
you don't necessarily need the bad words, you need.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
The fillers pose. But it is fun. It's fun. It's fun,
like going all the way there. It is.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
I think it pulls emotions more though, doesn't it, Like
when you use certain words, like you just feel it
more as something the audience, not a comic, so as
somebody who's watching that you kind of want it.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
I agree, you know.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
And I think a lot of the guys that come
to my shows are pleasantly surprised because I'm you know,
it's some of my jokes are a little fatty.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Some of my jokes are just you know, for the
ladies I have.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
I have, like I feel like I have like everything
when you come to and it's a lot of fun.
I talk about, you know, the shows that I do.
I talk about my experience on New Girl. My experience
is on happy endings, but it's not.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Just about that.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
I talk about just my personal life as well and
my observations, which.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Is pretty weird.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Do you feel like you were just kind of born
weird and funny? I mean, you come from such a
funny family, Like it's almost like there's pressure.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
I don't know if there's pressure but I definitely do
feel like I was born weird and funny for sure.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
That's awesome.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
Yeah, it's it's a it's a I think it's partly
you're born being funny and then partly you just learn behavior,
Like you learn how to, you know, roast people, you
learn how to get thick skin because my family will roast.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
The hell out of you.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
And yeah, you just learn kind of that comedic math,
you know, without even actually sitting there and like taking classes.
You're just like, Okay, that's good, that's our that's the punchline.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
And you know, I just feel like.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I picture you and your diapers just sitting there looking
around like, oh my god, you're picturing you're being pictured
in your creepy I just I feel like I'm a
visual person and so like I just got that you know,
living room vibe. It's just instilled as a child.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Do you see him as a child or do you
see him as he is now? But like yeah, because.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
That's kind of that's different. Well, I mean, you know,
it's funny.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
These are the types of conversations I normally have with
people when I meet them, because I just like to know,
like the origin story, you know, what I mean, like, really,
what got you here?
Speaker 4 (09:08):
You see my bedroom?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
I pictured your bedroom. This is not creepy.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
What's the action figure behind you?
Speaker 5 (09:17):
This is my this is Goku.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Oh okay, we're super saying Goku. We to check that out.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
You say you said that, like you know who that is?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Jubil. I do sort of know who that is. I
know the name.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
You kind of have to know who Goku is at
this point. It's like a casual you know dragon Ball?
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, okay, that's right. You have more of those two?
Because I thought that saw some other.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Oh yeah, I got three. There's three of them.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
That's dope. So you are, like, I'm guessing you are
a fan of dragon Ball and stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Yeah, so I used to I used to draw, like
that's what I wanted to be. Ultimately, when I was younger,
I wanted to be an animator. Oh really Yeah, And
then I accidentally opened one of my dad's checks and
I was like, wait a minute, serious animation.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
That is crazy talent.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
It's a lot of work. I used to draw. That
was like my first job as a as a kid. Well,
it wasn't like a job, it was. It was in
middle school. I would draw like kids animate breasts.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
You were serious about it. You did it like it
was a job that was five dollars. It just got
weirder than me. Yes, I wish, I wish I went
to school with you, because like none of my friends
could drive.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
They were terrible as they were so good that yeah,
like the perfect you know, areola size.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Yeah, because you know, sometimes it would be so good
I would I would look at it and be like, no,
I'm keeping.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
That because my friends all drew that stuff too, But
they were terrible artists, you know, like man, I I
would have gone.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Was crushing it. I was making so much bank.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
How about you guys? Did you guys draw boobies?
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Didn't have to draw them? We have different.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
Just a guy I think.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
I think you guys are Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
It was actually, you know it was there was a
kid that was like right under me and and he
drew them too, but he got by his teacher and
he like ran away, He ran away to the supermarket
across the street.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
I was like, bro, I got to teach you how to.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
He watches you, and he's like, man, I want to be.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Just like that.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
He's likes doing it.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
I was like he was talking about me. Man, like
to see what the people in the grocery store. He's like,
why is this kid.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
In here clinging to his paper boobies?
Speaker 1 (11:49):
He's been drawing boobies? Okay, what what would people that
are fans of yours be surprised? I mean obviously dragon
ball z, but like other things that you're into that
people don't know, like just hobbies of yours or things
that you're really passionate about.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
What what do I love to do? I mean, you
know I'm left handed. People don't know that about me.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
No.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
I actually did some.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
Research on left handed and did you know that only
ten percent of the world's population is left handed? No?
Speaker 1 (12:20):
I mean I know I'm left handed.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
I think it's crazy to me, you know, because especially
because like so many people who are like notable figures
are left handed. Yeah, Oprah's left handed, Obama's left handed,
Bill Clinton, And that's just a couple of people on
that Epstein list.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
A lot of left handers on there. Hey, man, I
know that you got to go, but thank you for
joining us for a little bit. Man, I appreciate it,
and we'll make sure everybody checks out your shows this
weekend at the Ammal City Comedy club man.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Thank you guys, it was really lift. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Have a good one and Nina will continue to think
about you.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I'll see you in my room later.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah, well, i'll see you later, all right, take care
of you. I thank you.
